I have been overweight since I was in the fifth grade.  I went on my first diet in sixth grade.  My family is all overweight and struggled with weight all their adult lives.  I have successfully lost weight many times in my life, including significant amounts but I always ended up gaining it back.  Even when I lost it, I was never the weight doctor's say I should be based on my height.

Now that I'm in my 30s, I'm finally actually getting sick.  Luckily it's mostly only one thing, which is sleep apnea.  However, sleep apnea is not fun.  I can't sleep at night.  Before I met my fiance I lost many dates due to my terrible snoring.  Luckily my fiance doesn't mind it, but it was very embarrassing for me when I first met him.  It's to a point where I am always tired and can never fall asleep at night.  The machine they give you, which is the only treatment besides losing weight really, is difficult to get used to.

Then I get spikes in my blood pressure, while it is mostly fine.  Which means I don't need medication because it's generally good.  However, if I get really stressed it can spike and cause my eye to move and cause double vision.  It's hard to drive and work when that happens.  Then, my body aches from carrying all my weight.

Finally, I know I need help.  I have tried programs like weight watchers and Jenny Craig and lost weight with a nutritionist and nothing really works.  So, I am ready to try the lap band.  I want to be able to be healthy enough to have a baby with my fiance in a few years and to be able to teach my child or children healthy habits.  Surgery in about a week.  Fingers crossed.
