New Update!! :) Life goes on.....

Apr 11, 2009

Well....the year 2009 has been very interesting to say the least.
I had to have emergency hernia surgery on Feb 7th!  I was in so much pain I could hardly stand up.  Right now my insurance is denying the bill of over $30,000 because they state it is a complication of my WLS.  Ugh!! So frustrating.  I gained 5 lbs after surgery..but now down to 210.  I just back from a cruise to the Greek Islands and Turkey.  I LOVED IT. NO weight gain .  I am hoping to get back on the exercise track this week.  Working 2 jobs, school, studying, and church activites..keep me busy.   I miss my surgery sisters. I hope my life will slow down soon!  Just wanted to write a short update. I may try to post some Greece Pictures too. God bless....till next time America!

2009-I am ready change!Clean slate, fresh begining

Jan 01, 2009

Well....as I sit here and type this.... I look back on 2008 and it wasn't so bad.  I did lose lots of weight 127 lbs- plus an ex-huband that weighed 190 lbs...so a total loss of 317 lbs!! lol
Not too bad!!!
Now I am looking forward to 2009!! I am still working 2 jobs and going to school.  I am pursing a Bachelor Degree in Business Admin from Furman University.  Go Paladins!!  I was able to go a cruise with my family and friends in Sept - what a relaxing time.

In 2009 I want to do more for God!  I really do not have New Years Resolutions.
The usual- Exercise more, lose more weight, maybe have plastics done, keep going to schoolm make friends, maybe meet Mr. Right? or date Mr. Wrong lol !!

I am going to Greece and Turkey in March 2009!!  I am working that second job...just to go!! But it will be so worth it!!   I just got my new passport- a way better picture than before!!   I am thankful for all my friends and family support.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have, into enough and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order and confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Happy New Years to all my friends!!
God Bless!

1 year check up*** WHOOOOSH..that year went by so fast!

Nov 07, 2008

Well.....so hard to believe that it has been a year yesterday that I had surgery.  It went by so fast!  I am forever grateful for the decision I made.  It has changed my life.  I met with Dr. Bour and Katie and the Dietician.  I weighed in today at 213!!  I really wanted to be 207 since the day of surgery I was 307...but that is ok.  I am still losing weight- that is what is important.
SO TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS is 128 lbs!

On
October 1st I went to the ER with severe abdominal pain. IT WAS ROUGH!! .  Dr. Bour thinks i have an ulcer so I am on Prilosec and Carafate (4 times a day). SInce my iron is low..I hope i do not have a bleeding ulcer.  So for right now...no EGD or CT scan.  We are playing the waiting game!   This is the  first week I have felt "normal".  My iron and protein levels were low so he prescribed an iron supplement.  I am meeting with my surgery sisters (Cathy and Deidre!) tonight to celebrate and take pictures!!  They are doing and looking great as well.  I had a great time on my cruise in Sept.  Will post pictures soon.   Dr. Bours goal for me is now 170.  So when I get to weighing around 180 lbs- I will do a plastic surgery consult. I hope my insurance will pay for it!

Many thanks to all the support I have received from OH and family and friends.  I am truly blessed!

So...till next time!

9 month check up!

Sep 03, 2008

I met with Dr. Bour today.  I have lost  a total of 117 lbs.!!  I am little behind...but not by much.  I feel so much better!!  I weighed  224.  My goal is to be under 200 by my 1 year check up on 11-7-08!  Dr. Bour was pleased with my progress so far....no complaints.  I am still walking at lunch, swimming and using the elipitical machine (which just about kills me!!)  that is so tough!
I have also started working a second job and I am taking a class at TECH!! busy...busy..which is all good.

I am leaving on a cruise next week - leaving from New York, then Boston, then Portland, Maine then Halifax and St. John, Canada... It should be really pretty with the fall colors.  I am going with 16 other friends/church people.  I am sooooooooooo looking forward to it.

I will post again at my 1 year check up.  I had one friend have the surgery in June and I have 2 friends having this surgery  later-  One Sept 15 and one later in the year.  Dr. Bour is so great.
I am very thankful for this opportunity!
God bless...till next time! :)

Eating slow and eating 4 oz total!

Jul 24, 2008

Well...as I really worried how I would do with eating less.  I mean...you get used to eating more...it's so  hard to go back.  I am eating my meals I buy from Nutrition Solutions ON THE WHITE PLATES!!!  SO far so good.  When I went to support group Tuesday, I had lost 2 more lbs since last Wednesday when I met with Cammy.  So that was good.
After support my surgery sister Cathy and I went to Applebee's to catch up and eat!! yumm.....it was so good.  JUST FYI -- I ordered off the Kids menu and on Tuesday's.....it is  99 cents for kids meals...Yeah!!  Our waitresses name was Gina and it was the Applebee's on Woodruff Rd.  Thanks Cathy for listening to me....we are soooooooo much alike... it's really funny some times when we are together, we think alike, talk alike etc...... Can hardly wait to get together soon with Deidre!!

Anyway........I will keep truckin on... I still would like to lose 50-65 more lbs. Once I lose 50 lbs...Plastic Surgery consult...here I come.  Yeah!!
So far it's been an incrediable journey, and one that I would not change.  People going into this need to know that it a ride....one with curves, hills, valleys and sometimes speed limits! ha!!  Sometimes it is also a bumpty ride...but enjoy it!!
Til next time...

Slow weight loss!!-FRUSTRATING!!

Jul 18, 2008

Ugh.....whoever says this was the "EASY" way out...I will personally strangle them!!  This is not easy.  I met with Pysch doctor who then referred me to Cammy the dietian.  My weight loss has come to a slow -I even keep a food diary and exercise daily....what is going on??  From all appearances..i am doing everything right....  At my 6 month check up I even stated..i felt it was slow... So I started buying my  meals from the Nutrition Solution so I could monitor  my portions.  You would think portion control right??!!!

Well....after meeting with Cammy....I found out that I have been ordering the wrong meals! Dan has been selling me the 4 oz size.  ( which is 4 oz meat and 4 oz veggie)....which he told me was 2 oz meat and 2oz veggie...so basically I have been eating 8 oz of food!  I started crying!! I am pissed off to say the least!   The one thing I was most worried about--- stretching my pouch has happened! I am so upset.  Yes...many times I cannot  finish the whole meal thing...but still!!  Why me??
So I bought some 2 oz meals yesterday. Next week I am bumping up my excercise from 30 mintues to 45 minutes.  My 9 month check up is in a few weeks.   I am still upset and that was yesterday. Nothing can be done now...I just need to really eat small amounts and hope it will shrink back!!  Please God - I have more  to lose and I am not done!  I want to lose  50-65 more lbs,  I am losing some...but like 1 lb a week instead of 2-3 lbs a week.   Thanks for listening to my rambling Til next time..

6 month check up with Dr. Bour

May 15, 2008

I had my visit with the dietian and Dr. Bour on Friday.  It went very well.  I am doing good and he seemed pleased with my progess.  I had lost 66 lbs since surgery.  Still at 241 lbs the day of visit (although I have lost 3 lbs since Friday)  I am right at 103 lbs lost since I started my 6 month diet history. YAAAHHHOOOO!!  I feel so much better that  I can not  find the right words to say how good I feel and how much better I get around.  Dr. Bour said my labs looked great...everything was in normal range except B-12..which was a little high but not too bad.  He wants me to lose about 20 lbs in the next 3 months at my 9 month check..which I think is totally doable!  ESPECIALLY in  the summer when I will be more active and exercising more (now that I have a pool)  ...plus no more excuses. I am feeling better..I should be MORE active. Thanks for reading! Til next time........:)

Time has just flown by ! I can hardly believe that it has been 6 months since I went into the hospital for surgery. NO REGRETS!  Doing good and feeling better every single day.  I still have 86 lbs to go...but I keep trying and doing the best that I can.  I appreciate all the support I have received from family and friends! THANK YOU!

**100 lbs gone!!!**6 month pysch eval**

May 01, 2008

Well... I had my 6 month follow up with the nut doctor.  It went well.  I am doing ok. I have a tendency to "beat myself" up over certain decisions I make.    I want to do better.  I told her that my biggest fear is failing.  However, she told me that I could use that "statement "  as the one statment that can modivate me to NOT FAIL!  I did not have to weigh in today.......but I wanted to see where I was in my weight loss.  I now weigh 241 - I HAVE LOST EXACTLY 100 lbs - since the start of my 6 month diet history!  WHOOO HOOO!!
I meet with Dr. Bour next Friday- May 9th!  I am going to be really good this week with protein, water and exercise!!
Thanks for listening (or reading) to me ramble!! :) lol

5 month Blog

Apr 08, 2008

Hello OH friends!
ok.......Well...where do I begin?  I have had an ok/so so  month.
Weight loss: 95 lbs from July 07- 61 since Nov-07 the day of surgery.   (ONLY 5 more lbs til I reach 100 lbs loss Yipee!!) I have been busy-which is good.  I feel like my weight loss has slowed down some and that is scary to me.  My biggest fear is FAILING AT WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY!!!
I will be glad when the weather warms up and it stays lighter longer. - I will even be more happy when I get to open my pool!! Whoo Hoo...I will be in the pool every day that I can.  I am like a fish.  I JUST LOVE WATER!!
I really do like my elipitical machine--what a work out! My legs are like Jello when I get off... I just need to do it more often.  Support group was good last night and there was a good many people there too.  The group was comprised of about 50% surgery was within 0-3 months, 20% was 3-6 months, 20% was 6 months-1 year, and 10% surgery was over 12 months ago.  Very interesting group to say the least.  We all have different stuggles and issues.  We can all help each other during our post - op months..  I have got to be more disciplined in my  exercise!! - That is the core of the problem- bottom line.
I like going to support group because it gives me accountability!  IF I miss, My friends call me and make sure I am doing ok!  I am not scared by someone checking on me.   I have my 6 month labs and appt coming up and I am determined to do my best to get more excercise in my routine!  (NOTICE I SAID ROUTINE!!)  ....it needs be a "normal" thing in my life.   Thanks again for all the support.  I will post/blog more after my 6th month checkup.  Thanks for listening and reading!
