RNY Revision

Jul 20, 2012

July 16, 2012 - had lap band over RNY done.  Starting weight 240.1.  Here I am 5 days out and am at 242.  I came home from the hospital 9 lbs more than when I went in.  Considering I am only getting between 400 and 500 calories a day in,  I am pretty sure it is the meds causing water the weight gain.

This was by far the most painful surgery I have had yet.  They attach the port to a muscle in my abdomin.  It kills getting up or down.  Once up or down, I am fine.  It's just getting there that kills.

I am doing good on the food plan aspect.  I thought I would have the most problem with this.  With the RNY because they cut your stomach so far down, you loose a lot of the enzymes that tell your brain you are hungry.  This isn't the case with the lapband.  So this really concerned me.  However, I am not hungry.  I literally have to remind myself it is time to eat.

I am walking - slowly but walking.  I am getting ready to do my longest walk so far.  Going to walk down to the drug store to get some liquid tylenol.  Think between the walk down there and back it is going to be about a mile.  I am trying to wean myself off the Loratab (liquid Vicodin), so I am going to try the liquid Tylenol.

I am considerably more tired this time.  Can't quite figure that one out.  Seems like all I do is sleep.  Do something then take a nap.  Yesterday I went to Costco.  Got home about 11:30 - put everything away, ate (or should I say drank) a hot chocolate, then took a 2.5 hour nap.  Got up - cooked dinner for Mom and Dennis, napped again about 7 and in bed by 10:00pm.  Crazy.   Hopefully that will get better as I am further out from surgery.
