Working It Out

Jun 29, 2010

Since I've passed the 4 week mark I've been focusing on increasing the intensity of my workouts. I'm staying away from weights until my 6 week check up but I'm trying to work out longer, faster, and just a little bit harder. I got a walking partner but because of our schedules we can only meet on Friday and Saturday eveninngs. Last Friday we did a 45 minute walk at the park. At the end of the walk there was a fairly steep incline that we had to go up and it was hard. I had to pause for a minute to catch my breathe. So that walk was twice as long as my normal 20-25 min walks and more intense.

Today (Tuesday) I did Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds (Muscle Mile One) exercise dvd. At first I thought that a walking dvd was a bit silly because I can just go outside to walk. However, bad weather has kept my from walking a couple of times and I've heard a lot good things about Leslie's walking dvds. So I rented Mile One and Two from the library so I can test them out before I buy them. The Mile One dvd was a very good work out for me. It wasn't too easy or too hard and it is a better workout than I get when I do a slow walk around my apartment complex.

I'm excited that I am becoming more physically active and hope to get to the point when physical activities become a normal part of my life. Instead of solely relying on regimented workouts I want to start rollerblading and bike riding and doing other physical recreational activities on a regular basis to help get in and stay in shape.
