NSV

I'm not sure that I can depend on my scale. A couple of weeks ago the scale showed that I had lost nearly 20 lbs in one week. As much as I would love for that to be the case I pretty sure that was inaccurate. I weighed myself several more times and still got this reading. I had to turn the scale off and wait several minutes before I got a reading that seemed reasonable. My friend also told me that he thought my scale was off when he used it as well.  So since I'm not sure if my scale is accurate I would like to focus on my non scale victories (NSV).

1. Smaller feet. I'm not sure if I have gone done an actual shoe size but I know that my feet are not as wide as before. The house slippers I bought the week before my surgery are way too big. I also have a older pair of shoes that I stopped wearing because they were too tight. I was able to wear them comfortably last week. I even kept them on when I did my 30 minute walk at work during lunch.

2. Being able to wear old clothes. Over the last five years I've went up and down about 4 sizes so at my highest weight I had more clothes that I couldn't fit than I could fit. Now I can fit every last piece of clothing I own. Well actually most of my clothes are now too big for me.

3. Less fustration when shopping. I've been trying to avoid or at least minimize the amount of clothes I buy while I'm losing weight. However, I had to recently buy some clothes for work purposes and actually had fun trying on clothes and did not feel depressed by my size. There were more styles available to me since I was not at the highest size in the store.

4. More physcially fit. Before the surgery I couldn't finish a slow, 15 minute walk around the block without resting. Now I'm doing 45 minute exercise dvds.

5. Feeling more comfortable with my body. I'm not all the way there yet. I don't feel completely comfortable and confident with my body but I no longer avoid looking at my self in the mirror.

6. Shopping in "regular" stores. For the first time in a very long time I went into a non-plus size store and actually fit into the clothes. I do still wear plus sizes but I've gone down enough (from a size 24, okay a size 26, to a size 20) so I was able to find clothes that fit in the plus/women's section of  a regular store versus an entirely plus size store.
