I am 53 years old and disabled. I have a neuromuscular disorder called torticollis. So, now I am home all the time and try to keep occupied doing the simple housetasks I can still do, like washing dishes, clothes and floorcare. My husband bought me a treadmill and I use that for my main source of exercise since I can't really go to a gym. My weight problems began when I was four years old. At the age of eight, I weighed 95 pounds and our family doctor said I probably wouldn't live to be 30. My parents were devastated. They sent me to a clinic in Texas where I was given pills that made me 'high' but didn't do much else. I went to Weigh Watchers (6 times), the TOPS club, Nutri-System and took phen-phen and Orlestat (sic). In the end, the only thing lighter is my bank account. At my last checkup, my diabetic A1C level was 10. My cholesterol was over 400 and was too high for the instruments to measure. My doctor is worried that I will eventually go into liver failure if the medication I'm taking doesn't work. I really don't want to die. My family loves me and they are so afraid they won't have me around much longer. My time truly is running out.
