9 months

Mar 12, 2011

It's been a journey for sure. I am so pleased with the results of my surgery. My weight (as I've said before) loss slowed for the winter. Now that spring is rearing it's head I'm losing 1.5 lbs a week again. Though, a trip to the ER and lots of IV fluids made me gain 8lbs. I was upset with that but that's all gone now :)  I've been more active in the garden -- finishing the winter cleanup. My crocus and daffodils are blooming. I love it! My hyancinths are coming up nicely and I've discovered that those hyancinth bulbs mulitply. I planted three last year and now I have 8 blooms coming up.
I have 40lbs to go now. I need to have my wedding rings sized again in a bad way. I was able to shop at Old Navy. I can wear their XL t-shirts and they make me look normal. I am a little concious of the extra skin starting to show but I'm ok with that anyday. So now my official shirt size is 14 and my bottom size is 18. I've got a big butt. LOL. The 18s are getting to big so I'll be in 16s soon enough. I can see my collar bone. Wow was that cool. I'm doing gentle stretching every day to help me limber up. Since I'm prohibited from weight bearing excersize I really enjoy the equine activities. There is nothing more satisfying than walking along a beautiful trail in the spring while the trees are budding and the birds are singing. Plus, the workout of grooming and tacking and bathing really help with getting into shape. That is good cardio. And fun.. what more can you ask for out of a workout right?
In other news my bloodpressure is usually 95/60, which is way down from the 140/90 it was pre surgery. The level of fat in my blood is way down too. My six months labs did show a pretty good vitamin D deficiency but I've been supplimenting and I have my next labs March 28. I'll post to see if the suppliments working. I still stay thirsty most of the day.. like I just can't get enough fluids. Dr. says that this is no cause for concern as long as I'm getting my water in. I went through a rough spot where I was getting constant bladder infections but that has passed too. You'd think my anxiety disorder would be subsiding now that I'm not as depressed etc.. not exactly. I still have the mini attacks sometimes and last week I had a major one. They've double my dose of celexa so I'm hoping that keeps them at bay forever. It's no fun feeling like you are going to die. There's been some major family emergencies that contributed to the attack too. The last major attack I had was just before surgery while they were putting me to sleep.
Ah, American Idol is back in full swing. One of my favorite shows along with The Vampire Diaries.
Looking back over the last 9 months I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
Much Love. I'll try to blog again soon.
Sharon.
