My surgery is in 5 more days & I am kind of a wreck . My house needs major cleanage , but , I haven't gotten much done .
On October 17th I had my pre-op @ U.W. My 1st appt . wasn't until 11:15 , but I left Buckley at 8:00 , because you never know what the road conditions will be . I got there really early . I paid for my surgery ($3,680.00)I bought a couple things in the gift shop & put them in my car . Then , I bought a magazine & tea in the tea roon & sat in there , facing a park & just chilled for an hour . I met the chief surgeon , Dr. Mathes . He was very good looking . He had a 1st year resident with him . Dr. Imahara , my resident 6 , who will be doing part of the surgery , had to leave town . Dr. Mathes said I was a great candidate for the Flor de les cut & that he would do it . Yea!!! After that appt. I had pre-anesthesia . There was a long wait , but , it went well .
I have surprisingly , continued to lose more weight . I'm not complaining . My surgeon doesn't want me losing any weight during my recouperation period . Never thought i'd ever be told not to lose weight . lol .

9-27-08 Today was The Walk from Obesity . It was really fun . There was a pretty good turnout . It was fun to see everyone . I'd name everyone , but i'd leave someone out . I tell ya my mind is mush
. lol . Lunch at Shari's was fun with Jillian , Izzybear , Shelley & Susan . It was a bummer the others had to either go to work or leave early . Nancy , who had to go to work , was probably glad for her ears to rest after me talking them off . lol . Who do you think they named Chatty Cathy after ? But , they spelled her name wrong . That's what my family always said . The weather was perfect & the view was beautiful . Can't get much better than that . 9-26-08 Too weird . Right after I posted that i'd met my goal , I lost 2 more pounds . I go months & months without losing & 3 pounds just plop off in one week . The extra 2 pounds have stayed off all week , so i'm claiming them . Tomorrow I am participating in the Tacoma 'Walk for obesity' , with a bunch of local OH'ers . It is supposed to be nice . It should be fun .
9-13-08 - Wow , I completely missed August .Not much has changed . Still waiting for my surgery on October 29Th . In August the kids & I went on two little trips . 1st we were going to go to Bumping creek . The kids' dad was with me & he wanted to go there . It was raining here when we left . Once we got over Chinook Pass the weather was beautiful . We kept driving & driving . I stopped for gas & had Chris ask for directions . We had missed our turn off by many miles . Stopped & got some fresh cherries . Yum . Ended up going to Clear Lake , which was beautiful , but not a good swimming lake . There must be at least 4 Clear Lakes in Washington .
Our second trip was just the kids & I . We went to Long beach & Grayland . Long beach should only take 2 hours to get there .Of course it took us 4 hours . Long beach has the best smoked salmon at a place called The Crab Pot . Yum ! I got a pound for myself & 1/2 pound for a friend . Grayland is more secluded & about 30 minutes away from LB . I like it better , though . Kati had a melt down over these red long winged bugs . They didn't bite , but were annoying .
So , between the two long road trips , I am broke from gas costs . Aprox. $100.00 each trip , not counting food , etc.... Oh well it's just money .
My weight has been between 169-172 for a while , now . So i'm going to change my weight tracker & declare that i've met goal . HURRAY !!! I feel very good where i'm at . If I lose a few after surgery , i'll be happy , but i'm not making an effort to lose , anymore . Now isn't that a change ?
I've been plagued by another super long migraine episode , again . They usually last 3-5 days once a month . I'm on day 9 . This happens several times a year . Sucks !
Today is a beautiful day in Western Washington . This is my favorite time of the year . Between now & the end of October . TTFN

July 22-2008 - Well, Monday July 15th I talked to Dr.Imahara on the phone. We talked about my options . He & his supervisor felt that I would be happiest with a circumfrontial lift, which I can't afford & they don't do . He said he would be perfectly happy to do as I want . I asked if he ever does an anchor cut TT . He said no , not really . But he would make an exception for me .
Thursday , July 18th, the patient coordinator called to schedule the surgery . She said I was having a panniculectomy . I said , "oh , no I’m not . I'm having a Tummy Tuck ." She said they were basically the same thing . I said they tighten the muscles with a TT .They don't with the panni . I said, also , the Dr. said he would do an anchor cut & mentioned a pain pump . She said she was going to have to talk to him & get back to me .
Friday there was a message (from the PPC) that Dr. Imahara would do the cut we agreed to , but I didn't need a pain pump . I would go home the same day . Of course I couldn't reach her , so I left a message .
Monday I got ahold of the PPC (Physician & Patient coordinator) . Dr.Imahara wanted to do the surgery with a Dr. Mathes . The soonest was October 29th . I was bummed, as I was hoping for Sept , because my daycare lady is going on vacation (Mexico) on Sept 22nd . She (the PPC) said that I could have him do it with Dr. Saide on Oct 15th . I said , if Dr. Imahara wanted Dr. Mathes to assist him , then I would wait & have surgery on Oct 29th . I'm sure there's a reason he picked that particular Chief surgeon .
BTW - My consultation was $250.00 & my surgery will be $3680.00 .What a bargain . This is being done at The University of Washington by a surgery resident , assisted by a Chief surgeon . The big drawback is how faraway it is . Aprox . 1 1/2 hours away , if traffic is good & you don't screw it up (like I did last time) lol . You can't get much better than UW . I already got the pre-op appt & info , in the mail , after only 1 day . My pre-op is on Oct 17th at 10:30 am & another appt @ 11:30 .
My weight is usually between 170- 173 . Considering my calories , at times , I’m surprised it has settles there . I'm amazed how much I can eat , at times .Scary . It's a constant struggle to not eat crap .Usually I do good ,but sometimes it's crap .
Dr.Imahara Emailed me my pre-op pictures , as requested . Mom said my stomach looks like a sharpai . lol . I'll post after my surgery , with the after pictures .

I'm still struggeling with carbs , but not gaining , so far . Knock on wood .
** My post is weird , because of OH's editors . Very frustrating .

6-23-08 - Sorry this is so wordy . Today was my plastics consultation at The University of Washington , in Seattle . Mind you , I live a good distance away . After dropping the kids off at daycare , I was on my way @ 6:00 am . Traffic wasn't bad , so it should have only taken 1 1/2 hrs . I evidently missed my exit . I realized within about 20 minutes or so . By this time I was leaving Everett & entering Marysville . Definately not where I wanted to be . I finally got where I could turn around . Luckily I had left way early , my appt. was @ 8:45 am . I found my exit , but there were no signs leading me to the hospital . I asked some students where the hospital was & they didn't know ! I couldn't believe it ! I wandered around aimlessly & finally saw a man who looked like he would know . He did ! I got to the surgery desk with no time to spare . Whew ! The consult fee was $ 250.00 , which will go toward my surgery fee . The original quote was $ 3800.00 (I believe) for a tummy tuck with abdominal tightening . This includes everything . Hospital fees anesthesia , etc.... The surgical nurse said I didn't look like I needed a TT . She wasn't being snide , she was really sweet . I told her , "you haven't seen me naked". lol . The doctor , a cutie that looked like he was 12 years old arrived . I disrobed & sure enough she (the nurse) was shocked . She said I hid it really well . lol . We discussed options . The fact that I have so much loose skin on my tummy & hips would be a challenge as to where to stop the incision , to get a uniform look . & That I would likely eventually need more than one procedure . He took pictures of me & said he would go over them & his notes & would talk to me within two weeks to discuss what they could offer me . Overall I left feeling very good about the facility & surgeon . He took a lot of time with me & didn't make me feel rushed . I knew I would need more than one procedure going in , so that wasn't a shock . I've already decided I would probably go to Mexico in two years for round 2 . Kathy

. 175 pounds from my all time top weight . Shocking . I'm waiting for the phone call for my TT consult at The University of Washington . I'll be having my TT , there . It's a teaching hospital , so i'll get a big discount . I have a whole month scheduled off at work in Sept/Oct . I can't wait .

April 10th 2008 - I can't believe I haven't posted in so long . I don't have much to post . My weight has stayed the same for months . As much as I eat at night , i'm lucky I haven't gained weight . I'm such a carboholic & that hasn't changed . Tonight I made Krusteaz FF muffins . I had forgotten how good thwt were . They are pretty good on fiber , too . I used to eat them when I was on WW . These are much better in calories , etc... than the blueberry muffins the other day . I've got to get a handle on it . I just ordered more pork rinds from Bariatric eating . They are a good , low cal snack . I have a consultation with a plastic surgeon on April 21st for my Tummy Tuck . I'm planning on having it in the 2nd to the last friday in September . Can't wait . The weather is supposed to get better in a day or two . Then i'm getting my butt in gear & walk . TTFN .

December 1st 2007 - I went to Dr. Oh's annual holiday banquet . It was snowing when mom& I first left for Federal Way , but it quit . I wore my friend Tracy's dress . I had my picture taken , which I will add . My new avatar is from this photo . The food was great . Salmon , Prime rib , & sugar free apple pie . I am fluctuating between 173 & 175 .
December 11th 2007 - Tonight was our annual support group pot luck . Some awesome cooks there . I love Michelle's (Vitalady) three layer jello . It is so good . One gal grought deli meat with cream cheese wrapped around a pickle wedge . Now , I'm addicted . I've eaten it two nights in a row . Yum .
December 13th 2007 - Tomorrow is my quarterly visit at my RNY doctors office . It should go well . I have been grazing at night terribly . It's got to stop .
December 14tth - My appt went great .
December 25th 2007 - We had a really nice Christmas eve at my oldest son's house . All the Carlson' (& Chris' fiance' Krystal) & my boys' sister Shilah (& her fiance John) , who is my adopted daughter . She even told me she was expecting before she told her parents . Sniff Sniff . She called & asked me if I would be her baby's grandma . Isn't that sweet ? I got to harrass my 13 year old GS Blake , who I swear was born sarcastic . lol . And I always fawn over my beautiful 12 year old (in 8 days) grandaughter Courtney . Kati & Christopher (who I'm raising) were very high energy , as usual . And were thrilled with everything . They are always pleased with any gifts the recieve . Anthony's wife Kerianne is a cardiac care nurse (RN) & had to work . She came home right when dinner was finally ready (3 hours late) . Darned turkey wouldn't cooperate . lol . So , little Tyson (my sons red headed stepson) arrived , too . He will be 2 in Feb . He was pretty comical , rough housing with Blake & Christopher . He really likes Krystal . We think it's because she's a redhead , too . Anthony & Keri have two yellow dogs Duke (lab/golden retriever mix) & Montana (lab mix) , who I love . I don't think they know they're dogs . lol . If I was going to have a dog , i'd have a lab . Today , Chris & Krystal took Kati & Christopher to her parents house , which is 1 1/2 hours away . It's trying to snow , here . Mom & I are going to our favorite mexican restraunt for dinner . yum . I even got to have a long nap , so a very nice Christmas for me . xoxox Kathy
