My name is Tiffany, and my bariatric journey began not too long ago... I have been a larger framed girl my entire life, but in 2009, I began to feel that I needed to make some changes in my life, and fast, or else I would never live the life I have always dreamed of living. I was struggling because I wanted to have children, but I found myself with Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. In the fall of 2009, my diagnosis of Insulin Resistance had been replaced with official Type II Diabetes. I was at my breaking point... I decided to look into weight loss surgery, something I never thought I could afford. In the meantime, I conveniently ran into a girl from my employer who had just had bariatric surgery, and she informed me that my employer's health plan would cover any bariatric surgery 100%!! I also talked with a friend of a friend who had recently had gastric bypass surgery, and she had nothing but positive things to say about the entire process. I decided to go for the consultation appointment. As soon as the meeting was over, I felt an overwhelming feeling that this was all meant to be. I prayed about my decision, and I felt God showing me that this was something I needed to do to better serve Him. The entire process went smoothly, and within seven months of starting the process, I had the surgery. This was June 16, 2010. Since having gastric bypass, I have become a new woman!! I have energy that I've never had before, my Diabetes is gone, and I just feel amazing!! God has blessed me with this new chance at life... I am still in amazement of how wonderful everything has been... I can't wait to see where God takes me!!
