I L-O-V-E Dr. Mary. Just as everyone else states, she takes her time with you. Answering every question. She had to take a phone call from a fellow Dr. during my consult, but still made me feel at ease the entire time she was on the phone...I don't know how she did it.

Dr. Murphy was kind and responsive to my needs. She answered all of my questions, and I had many. She was slow at doing her dictation, which slowed my case, but I understand the amount of work I am sure she has. This was probably part of my impatience also, since I have been going through this process over 1 yr. Her office staff was ok. Dr. Murphy put something in words for me, she said, "you will always have a fat person trying to get out in you." Most people say they have a skinny person waiting to get out, but she did it to explain how if I do not diet, excercise, drink water, and eat my protien, I will have done all of this for nothing. Dr. Murphy explained all of the risks in detail, and how they avoid them if possible. I would rate her a 9 3/4, out of ten. Dr. Murphys'competence, bedside manner, and caring demeanor are great.

Dr. Mary is wonderful! I met her on 11/5 for my "marathon" appt. She was very friendly. She wasn't rushing me or seem to be in a hurry. She took her time to explain the surgery; the risks during and after, my care before, during and after. She was very clear and wanted to make sure she knew that I understood everything. She even drew a picture of what she would be doing.

If her bedside manner is anything like her surgery skills, I'm set! I have no worries or concerns about being in good hands. I feel very confident in Dr. Mary.

The office staff is wonderful. Everyone was so nice and considerate.

<p>2/15/04 UPDATE: <b>Dr. Mary is an Angel!</b> I'm 8 days out. I've had no complications and looks like my incision will scar just nicely. Dr. Mary is wonderful and kind. She even hugged me a few times and talked with me about siteseeing around San Diego. </p>

The first time I met Dr. Mary, I knew I had made the right selection for my surgeon. She was kind and attentive and answered every question I had (I brought a list with me).
Once I had my surgery and was in the hospital, she checked in with me often and made sure I was comfortable. She has a great bedside manner and really put me at ease. She also spoke with my family after my surgery and gave them the assurance they needed.
Not only is Dr. Mary an excellent surgeon but she is a fine person as well. She is sensative and supportive and you know she is in your corner and wants to see each patient succeed.
Also, the staff at Pacific Bariatric are very sweet, but very busy. I have had some frustration due to their multiple phone numbers and knowing who to call for different items (there is a pre-surgery # and a post surgery #). However, for a doctor's office they do a fine job.

Dr. Mary Murphy with Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego is absolutley AWESOME!!! She would have stayed there with me for hours if I needed her to be. She was very encouraging and I felt completely comfortable with her..

She was great start to finish...very competent

My impression of Dr. Mary is that she is a no-nonsense person...which to me isn't a bad trait. She really focuses on the surgical procedure, your after-care, and making sure you understood the whole picture but does this all in a caring way...you feel she truly has your best interest. She stresses drinking the protein drink Pro-Complex to prepare your tissues for surgery, to aid in recovery and as a post-op protein. She also stresses exercise! I would rate Dr. Mary a 10 (on a scale from 1 - 10...10 being the best!). I felt comfortable with her expertise, caring, and informative manner. As for her bedside manner she was THE best! One thing that really made me feel good was she gave me hugs each time she saw me (during her rounds and at my post-op appt). On Thanksgiving (day after my surgery) I grabbed her hand and thanked her for saving my life...she bent down and gave me a great big hug and said, "We both have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving." Just made me feel good inside that a doctor can be so personable...I've never had that before.

hi My first impression of Dr Mary Murphy, was the day I meet her at a meeting she was so kind and I could feel her love and support.There is nothing that Ididnt like about her she was my angel and for her Iam here to stay a little longer Dr. Mary Murphy you are a great doctor and surgeon thank-you very much. Her bedside manner was grat she would jump on the bed with me and talk even hug me bye and told everyone she wished she has 10000 patient just like me....

Everytime I see Dr. Mary Murphy she brings a big smile to my face. I would like to thank her for everything she has did for me & my family. It's like you can't wait for your next appointment just to get her smile & hug. That means a lot to me. I loved her bed side manner in the hospital. I was aslo ahmased with the straight line she did for the opening. I tell everyone I know about her. Thank You Dr. Mary.
