Surgery Specialty Hospitals of America Bariatric Center

I liked him and NeWeigh from the moment I walked in the door. My impression never changed about him. He was easy to talk to and very understanding. The office staff have been a trmendous help. There are several of which are also little sisters. There is nothing that I did not like. Future patients will be very happy with the staff and the atmosphere there. I have never had an unpleasant moment in the office. Only smile and friendly faces. Aftercare is very important to Dr. Alanis. He makes sure you have all the paperwork with you ahead of time for your lab tests. Yes, he has a very structured program. Group sessions as well. Dr. Alanis was very effective in explaining the risks of surgery and the things that you needed to do post op. I have referred Dr. Alanis and the NeWeigh group on numerous occasions already. I have no regrets. If I had it all to do over again I would not change a thing. Dr. Alanis and his partners are all very competent and they assist each other in the operating room. They trust themselves. They are the experts. Their Bedside manner is most important...they always want to know what they can do to make you feel better or to answer all off your questions...and trust me, I had many questions that needed to be answered. I am very happy with Dr. Alanis and the hospital staff and the office staff. They have all been so helpful in getting me to where I am today. I am 4 months post op...and down 50 lbs. I am so excited ! !! !!

I had met Dr. Alanis 18 months ago. My impression was that he was knowledgable and to the point. I have found through my experience that he has a wonderful bedside manner and is very cautionous. I have been hospitalized twice since my surgery because of a complain that I thought was trival, but he was not taking any chances and for that I am very grateful. I have only good things to say about Dr. Alanis

Dr. Alanis is the greatest surgeon in the world. I would highly recommend him to ANYONE or ANYBODY. He is the greatest, I'm telling an honest man, a real TROOPER, so kind to ALL of his patients, his staff, the hospital staff. A 'real' person behind that Dr. His staff is awesome. He is very genuine and a strong christian as well. There wasn't ANYTHING that I like about him, well except he was in Pasadena, and we live near Austin, TX ! I had questions after I returned home, I called his answering service and they paged him and he called me right back - WOW ! He explained everything, he assured me if we had ANY questions to contact him anytime. Everything about him is awesome, his competence, his bedside manner and his honest knowledge of GBS.

My first impression of Dr. Alanis was that he is very personable. You could feel the warmth and caring that he oozed. He took time to talk to the group about what to expect and he did not sugar coat anything. I was also impressed about the fact that he seemed genuinely concerned about the reasons a person wanted to have the surgery. He didn't seem to just want to collect the money, he wanted to make sure I was doing the surgery for the right reason.
The NeWeigh program and staff are FANTASTIC. They handled all of the paperwork and were very resourceful about where to go for what and when. The best thing about NeWeigh is the support groups and the other post ops who attend.
I had my surgery at Vista Hospital. I was apprehensive at first because it is a small hospital. My fears were put to rest right away because they have such a fantastic group of people working there and they are very competent. My experience was fantastic and I am satified that I received the best possible care while I was going through my pre op appointments, during my hospital stay and even right after surgery when I called with questions.
Good Bless Dr. Alanis, the NeWeigh staff, and the Vista Medical Center Staff!

Dr. Alanis seem ed very nice. He has an excellent bedside manner. He is very comforting when you speak with him and he provides a lot of information. At Neweigh they emphasize aftercare and the importance of following the directions they give you.
The biggest negative I had in this experience was my hospital stay at 12 Oaks Hospital. The day nurses were competent and helpful, especially Yolanda. The night nurses were horrible, horrible, horrible. They were unresponsive to requests and very "short and terse". They seemed to have the attitude of "you are bothering me", I was never so glad to depart a place as I was to when I was released from this facility.

I met with fine people at Neweigh today and finally met with Dr. Alanis. What a great guy he is. Very down to earth with a great sense of humor. A straight shooter when it comes to your health and what it will take to get the job done. I am very confident I have chosen the right Doctor to perform my surgery and get me on the losing side. The Neweigh staff is great and exciting to work with. They have a ton of knowledge to share and make you feel as if you are part of their team.

My first impression of him is that he is a busy man, but really experienced and knowledgeable, and knows the precautions to take to avoid the risks with the surgery
The office staff is supremely helpful and courteous and out to help you and make this experience as good for you as possible.
The only thing I like least is that fact that he is a busy man.
Yes he does have a structured aftercare program, it is detailed in paperwork given to patients. He emphasized aftercare a lot and gave the risks if the aftecare is not proper, also, he addressed the risks one by one and told us how he will prevent the risks from occurring.
I can only give him a good rating after one meeting, I believe both surgical competence and bedside manner is best.
