My first impression of Dr. Steward was that he was a very laid back kind of guy. He was funny but when it came to the surgery he was very serious and wanted to make sure I knew everything about the sugery. Also that the WLS was a "tool" not a cure. Seeing that I am only 19 years old when i had this surgery it didnt really bother him that i was so young. My impression has not really changed except the fact that he gave me a chance at a new life. The staff was supportive and caring of everyone needs. Dr. Steward really emphasized the fact that i needed to stay on top of my protein and vitamins and lots and lots of water. If i could rate him on a scale of 1-10 i would give him a 20!! The surgical competence and bedside manner were both awesome! I could not have asked for a better Surgeon!!

My surgeon is Carlye Dunshee who is on the same team as Brent Steward. He always answers questions without being bothered. Caring, good at what he does. He assured me that all was well and that if we did encounter a problem we would be able to take care of it. I would recommend him to others.
The first time I met Dr. Steward I was very impressed. He came to the support group and gave a slide show and talked about every possible type of WLS available. I could tell right off the bat that he was very dedicated to what he was doing. He didn't pull any punches when talking about the risks of surgery. With a few exceptions, his office staff is definitely first rate. He is a very competent surgeon, I will always feel eternally grateful and eternally blessed that his services were available to me. He has a great manner in which he deals with his patients also. He makes every patient feel like they are his prime focus. He is easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. On a scale of 1-10, I'll give him a 50!
I really like Dr S. He is very caring. Dr S. cares about his patients. All of them he is a very good Dr. Very polite but very busy. They seem to know what they are doing and work very hard.
I do not have anything negitive to say about Dr. S.
He is a great Dr. and has preformed many of these surgeries.
He says we are in this for the long hall...
I know I will be seeing Dr. S. for a long time to come...

between 1-100 a 99.7 I have seen Dr. Stewards office twice since my surgery and I want to see My Dr. Dr S. My next apoinment I will finally get to see him. He has been gone on all my apoinment dates so far. My surgery went great and I had a fast recovery. Thanks Dr S. and Dr B. I am seeing Dr S. In the morning, I have taught myself a lot but I am going to ask him. 1. How many fat grams are we allowed 2. How many protein grams do we need 3. How many Carbs do we need to stay healthy. Dr S. has a great Bedside manner and is a very competent Surgeon..

He was very profesional and very down to earth. My empresion did not change he is still a good surgern. Very helpful and informed and always there when you need them. The complete way he explained everything and was there to answer any question. Just what I have told you in the forst sentence`s. The whole staff is there for my conveince. They have a very structered after care system but I don`t know how long this will last (months or years) . He explained all the risks several times pre op. So far I would rate Dr. Stewart and his staff 100%. Well both of course.

There was about 100 of us...Post Opp and pre-opp. He laid everything right out on the line. No sugar coating it here. He encouraged his post-opps to do the same here as well. He was the 4th Dr I had intervied. He also has lot's of patients(no pun intended)I asked so many questions and he asnswered every singe one of them.
My first impression of Dr. Steward was that he was very compassionate towards MO people and that his main interest is in helping us to reach our weight loss goals. He is in this to help people.
My impression of Dr. Steward only got better. Whenever I visited his office he always took the time to answer all of my questions and he never made me feel like he was rushed to move on to the next patient. I felt that I was the most important focus of his day whenever I was there! Awesome!
I did have some complaints about his office staff. Some of them can be a little rude and they don't really act like they have time to answer your questions. Not all have been like that but one especially. I simply learned to ignore her rude attitude because Dr. Steward is an excellent Dr. and I thought it was worth putting up with. I do think he could do better with a few of his staff though. However, the one thing that I was VERY impressed with is that a nurse from his office visits every day you are in the hospital. Even when I had to go back they usually stopped by to see how things were going. I really liked that.
I don't really think there was anything that I didn't like about him.
Future patients should know that Dr. Steward will take the time to answer all your questions and he will not put you down or make you feel bad for what you weigh or that you haven't been able to lose the weight on your own. I think he's a great Dr.!
I would like to see a little bit better information given out to patients before surgery but they do follow you very well after surgery and are concerned with your vitamins/minerals intake etc.
Dr. Steward's office has a great support group. I have only been to it a couple of times but I always got a lot out of it when I did go.
Dr. Steward is very upfront about the risks of surgery and covers that information very well.
Dr. Steward is an excellent Dr. in my opinion. I had great care from him and his nurses. I think he has both excellent surgical competence and bedside manner. He's a great Dr.!
I was very impressed with Dr. Steward. He attends the support group monthly meetings, along with two other physicians in his practice. The meetings are on Saturdays and the Dr's give a presentation explaining the procedures and have a wide open question and answer session once the presentation is finished. I have actually met with him in person twice and he was very attentive and willing to answer any question I have proposed. My husband was with me and now he has also decided to utilize Dr. Steward also. He will be scheduled later in the spring.
