Brent Steward Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

There is nothing negative I can say about Dr. Brent Steward. He has a wonderful personality, a great bed side manner, and truely listens to your questions and concerns. The very first time I met him I felt very welcomed by his staff and him. I was scared and nervous and he made me feel at peace with my decesion to have weight loss surgery. He answered all my questions, and the questions my husband had as well. I didn't feel rushed like you do at most doctors offices. I feel very lucky to have had him as my sergon. I wouldn't trade him for the world. He truely is a wonderful doctor and person. I love to tell people about how great he is. I do have to add that his partner that assisted him is also great. She is just as wonderful has he is. So if you are considrering weight loss surgery and live in the Topeka, Fort Riley and other surrouding areas I would truely reccomend Dr. Brent Steward. He is worth the drive.

He was Very understanding and patient. His office and staff were Very professional but nice and clean. Dr. Stewart looked me in the eye when speaking to me. He appears down to earth and does not put on airs.
Dr. Stewart answered questions straight forward and honest, informed me that risks the could happened. At this time I give him a 12 out of 10 he seems to be a very kind and understanding person. I can not see me seeing any one else at this time for this.

What a wonderful man Dr. Steward seems to be. I met with him on 12-15-03 and he has such a great personality. I had a list of questions and he took ALL the time I needed. He reassurded me that I was his idea of a "perfect" candidate. His staff is also very nice, but BUSY!!! This is a popular man.

I had my consult with Dr. Brent Steward on 8-30-03. I'd met him once before at an informational meeting. He gave me all the time I needed and answered my questions. I feel confident in him as a surgeon, having heard good things about him. He's very personable.

Now that I'm post-op with NO complications and have seen Dr. Steward also for a post op consult, I would just like to say that he is the best....skilled (his most important attribute!), kind, compassionate, easy to talk to. He didn't require that I loose weight prior to surgery and I'm thankful. He's kinda laid back but I'm sure that he makes his decisions based on his own research, experience and the experience of other successful surgeons. It is my understanding that he was a skilled lap surgeon prior to starting WLS. I was his 181st pt. I'm so glad I had him for my doc...and I recommend him highly!

Incredibly nice person who treats his patients with respect and sincerly cares. He is known for being one of the best surgeons in the area using laporscope. He is one of the few surgeons I know that will actually invite his patients to email him with any questions. (I did and he answered me within 30 minutes - which shocked the heck out of me considering it was a holiday on the day I sent the email)

He recently removed my gallbladder and it went very smoothly. He stopped in and visited with me and my family prior to the surgery plus spent time with my family afterwards going over the results.

He is extremely well informed on WLS and helps run the local WLS support group. He answers my questions and stresses that it is a personal decision on whether to have WLS.

I would rate Dr Steward a 10! It is so refreshing to see a physican who loves his work and does not take on airs.

My Surgeon was Dr. Bernita Berntsen. She has been very informative, professional and supportive throughout this entire process for me. Tallgrass Surgical Center sure does know how to hire them!! The office and staff are great!

Dr. Steward is a wonderful person. His personality shines through every time you talk to him. He is very informative and makes sure you are informed. He never talks to you like your "the fat person that refuses to lose weight" like most doctors do. If you choose to go through Dr. Steward, be confident in your decision, because you will not be let down. He knows his stuff!

I have not yet met with this surgeon

I met with Dr. Steward back in June. He was very nice and understanding. I did not meet the criteria for surgery until I had them re-measure my height, which I insisted would change so I would qualify, as I have no other morbidities. (Although both my parents are insulin dependent and my father has heart disease.) He agreed with me that I shouldn't have to wait until I had problems like diabetes and such so that I would be able to be a much healthier person ahead of time. . .and not lose my health to being overweight. His office staff has been helpful, as well. He wants his patients to be knowledgable about all that this surgery encompasses. I feel very confortable being his patient and very lucky to have been accepted by him, as well.

my first impression of dr. steward is how friendly and informative he is. i will meet with him again on the 4th of april so i will update after that. so far there is nothing i dislike about dr. steward.

he took such good care of me and i just love him. there is nothing you cant talk to him about he is so patient oriented. he doesnt have that God syndrome like alot of docs do. everyone i talk to that wants to have this done i tell them to not have it done if he cant do it. i trust him with my life.
