Dr. Thayer is a great man-caring and funny. He has been doing this for a long time and definately knows his stuff! The office is a little crazy, be prepared to wait for hours! But they are a wonderful group of people always friendly and knowledgeable, able to answer any question. Dr. Thayer ans his staff are the best!

I had my initial consult today with Dr. Bruce Thayer at Newton-Wellesley Obesity associates. What I had heard about his office was basically what I found to be true. It was very crouded and I had to wait a long time. But, every moment was worth it.
Dr. Thayer, his nutritionist, and his psychologist were all wonderful and efficient. They explained everything in detail and were all very warm and easy to talk to. Dr Thayer had a great sense of humor and was not "dry" like most doctors. This is the place to go!
They fully adressed the risks/benefits of surgery and how important the after care is.
I was told that I would be mailed a surgery date in about two weeks! Will write more then!

Dr Thayer seems very confident and competant. He can be brutally honest, but I think that comes from genuine concern for his patients. The office staff has treated me with respect throughout my visits. There is an after care program and I have only heard good things about it. I'd like to reserve rating him until after surgery.

I met with Dr. Reines & his staff on May 2nd for my initial consultation. Everyone was extremely personable, knowledgeable and understanding. The only part I found depressing was the actual waiting time to get in for surgery. At my consultation I scheduled surgeryand my date isn't until October 15th.

Dr. Reines has decided to move, so I will be having surgery with Dr. Thayer his associate.

The support group that is led by a nutritionist & psychologist is a wonderful place to meet people who are pre & post-op, and find out any information you could possiby want.

I am NOT a doctor person. I don't DO doctors. I had heard a lot about Dr Thayer and I was hoping he was half as nice as I had heard. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he was absolutely wonderful. He made me feel comfortable but didn't sugar coat anything. He seems to be that perfect balance of having a "good bedside manner" but no Bull----.

Dr. Thayer is wonderful. I work in the medical field, and you don't see too many Doctors with good bedside manners. Dr. Thayer is very concerned and a genuinley kind person. I have complete trust in him.

Dr Thayer seem rushed at first but once he slowed down seemed very knowledgeble Surgeon

The Nurse that deals with the patients is an angel, I observisered her for the 4 hour visit always being kind supportive and compassionate to all the patient at all stages.
The Psychologist on the other hand was very unprofessional and seemed to be running an
an assembly line.
The rest of the staff seemed very Supportive.
The risks were clearly outlined and all seemed very informative.

All I have done is call for a consult, but his staff was great about sending the papers out. I recieved them in only 2 days. His nurses are very nice and I look forward to meeting with him.

9/18/01 I've been to the consult on Sept 1st and 17 days later I have a date. His office is great about getting the approval. I didn't even have to think about it. They took care of EVERYTHING! As for Dr. Thayer he is such a kind soul. As soon as I met him I knew that I would like him. He has a great sense of humor and refers to me as "giggles" or "the kid". I recommend him to ANY and EVERYONE that is in the Newton Wellesley area and that is looking into this surgery...

dr thayer is a wonderful person as well as doctor. my impression of him now is the same
his staff are the nicest people and never look down at anyone.
he is very straightforward there was nothing i didnt like about him.
i think that people shouldnt be scared as they have your best interest. they are very dedicated to making your life different they explain everything in detail.
the aftercare is great not only do u talk to the doctors but they tell u never to hesitate to call them at anytime. they tell u everything about the risks of surgery leaving absolutely nothing out. he does not beat around the bush and lets u know that u have to work for this also.very high. all aspects of my surgery were great even though i did have some complications.

I was very timid with his appearance at first. After speaking with him, boy did I make a wrong impression of this man. He was one of the most pleasant people I have ever met. He made me laugh and that made me feel totally comfortable with him and the surgery.

The staff at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital were totally great. They were very friendly and they made everyone feel at home. Even the people in the waiting room were like family. Once I enter the office I was greeted woth open arms.

The only thing as of now that I did not like is that I have to wait 5 months for my surgery. But I honestly think that just because I am excited to start a new life.

I had to call the office a couple of times and what I like the most was that they know all their patients. I just have to say my first name and they remember right off the bat. That make me feel that they really care.

After and before the surgery they offer support groups to help out with the unknown and the stress of waiting. I will attend my first group on May 15th. I will keep you posted.

When speaking with Dr. Reines he clearly told me of all the risks and possible complications. He made himself very clear and he was very honest. With his sincerity I was totally convince that he was the perfect surgen for me.

Overall as of rating him prior to surgery, everything could not be better. I will keep you posted how everything else goes.

8/08/01 I went to my appointment today and found out that my scheduled surgen is moving and will be replaced with Dr. Thayer. I was upset at first but after meeting with him I felt comfortable. I can't say I am glad because I really wanted Dr. Reines to perform the surgery but I know I am in good hands. I will have a meeting with Dr. Thayer on September 19th after my ultrosound appointment prior to surgery.
