I have met Dr. Champion once for my
consultation. He was very nice and was willing
to spend as much time as I felt I needed.
He answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Dr. Champion
has an excellent reputation and I'm pleased
with my choice. There is a support group
for local patients. However, he has many
out of state patients who particpate in an
extensive online support group for pre and
post opp support. Dr. Champion's office staff
is wonderful. I can't say enough about how
helpful Judy, Sherrie and Alice have all been!
If I left anyone out, sorry! They've been great. Surgery is over and Dr. Champion is the best!! He came to my room 2 or 3 times after my surgery. He has a great bed side manner. His associate Dr. Rock is wonderful too. (Lap surgery is a two man job) I highly recommend this group, they are highly skilled and pleasant to boot. NOrthside Hospital -Cherokee in Canton was great as well. Very small, but they know how to treat Dr. Champions patients. Received excellent nursing care. I have zero complaints!

Dr. Champion was very pleasant. I filled out a packet of information before going to his office. His staff informed me that my insurance most likely would not cover my surgery but I told them I wanted to pursue it as much as possible and they were cooperative. Upon arriving at the office, I was given a questionaire to fill out to determine how much I knew about the surgery. My wait was not very long. Dr. Champion answered my questions and gave me a drawing of the procedures he performed. He informed me of all the risks involved. All options were left up to me. He felt like I had done much research on the internet about the surgery and he was willing to write a letter to my insurance company for me to try to encourage them to consider me for approval due to medical necessity. He never rushed me and was very willing to answer my questions. I would suggest that you prepare a list in advance. I was told not to call them about my insurance that the office staff would notify me. I will not have my preop testing done until the day before surgery. There was not a PSYCH evaluation and no nutritional counseling in advance. I still have some questions that I feel I need to ask so I plan to contact his office again. He does have a WEB site which you can view much of the details about the surgery.

I had talked to someone that had used Dr. Champion and she had warned me that he may not have a very good bed side manner. But He was Ok to me. Not all that mushy but he wasn't rude by any means. I had to drive 3 hours to get to his office. And I was taken at my appointment time. He told me the risks and how the surgery works laparoscopic. I am scared and if he had not told me of the risks then he would not be doing a good job. He seemd hopful that my BC/BS of Al will pay some of the costs involved for the surgery. After reading about Jimmy's death, I hope that they make a determination soon so I will not back out. It would be real easy to do if my insurer drags their feet. Please, everyone, keep your fingers crossed and pray that BC makes a hasty decision.

Dr. C. is a pro. I have not and did not have any problems at all. I had a very postitive expierence with Dr. C. I would recommend him to anyone. He knows what he is doing.

I have not met Dr. Champion yet but I only have wonderful things to say regarding his staff. They have been very professional.

My original consult with him was very informative. He answered my questions patiently (I had done considerable reading and research, so didn't have a whole lot), and gave me a diagram of the surgery for me to show my parents. That helped a good bit, and I feel like my family is more supportive as a result.

Dr. Champion's office staff is top-notch. They're busy folks but always make the time to help when you need it, and I have appreciated that very much. I attended the monthly support group in April (wasn't able to go in May, unfortunately) and felt that was the biggest eye-opener of all. There's nothing like talking face-to-face with a surgeon's post-ops to really give you an idea of what to expect. All in all, so far a very pleasant experience.

Dr. Champion is a great Dr. He has a great bedside manner. I
He has a web site at egroups.com. This is where I
found him and studied him before I chose him.
He does RBY laporscopically. This was the
main reason I chose him.

Excellent, talented laporoscopic surgeon!! Would strongly encourage preops to investigate lapororscopic vs. open with an experienced laporoscopic surgeon. The difference in post op recovery is tremendous. Dr. Champion is caring and extremely knowledgable. I highly recommend him, both personally and professionally!

Because I live in Texas and he is in Georgia I didn't meet Dr. Champion until the day before my surgery. Once I met him I was impressed and happy with my decision.

I have been going to Dr. Champion's support group for over a year before I decided to have the surgery. He is extremely helpful in these group sessions. He explains the different type surgeries and answers any of your questions. His office staff is extremely helpful and great! I changed my insurance so I could have a lap procedure with him.
