Dr. Oh's office is very busy but the ladies that work there are very dedicated to helping us through the process. I've spent more time with them than I actually have spent with the Dr. The time I have spent with the Dr. has been good. He gets right down to business but answered all of my questions. He has a great mortality rate (only lost one patient and it was two months after the surgery to a blood clot) so I would say his competence is better than his bedside manner. I would say, if anything, he gave most of the information at his mandantory orientation prior to meeting you peronally. After that it's just moving through the process. I guess the only negative (so far, but my surgery isn't until next week) could be that because the office is so busy, you have to follow up to make sure things get done for you instead of them following up with you. For me, the environment was perfect. A special thanks to Sherri... I don't think I could have done it without her!

My first impression of Dr.Oh came from a patient of his that recommended him. She said he was the best in the business and his tummy-tucks were to die for! On my first visit, he was very upfront about what Gastric Bypass surgery involved, and very, very funny about explaining the rather indelicate after-effects! I really felt I was in good hands with him and his staff! He stessed the importance of excersize and nutrition, including supplements, post-surgery. He even made me make the decision to quit smoking right then and there, demanding that I throw out my smokes in his office garbage! (Thanks Dr.Oh!)
His staff has been wonderful and supportive in my venture, and in my opinion, this is all-important. Dealing with the insurance company has been an excersize in patience, and I would not have had the heart to proceed if it were not for them.

My journey began three years ago by going to a informational WLS meeting given by
Dr. S. Ross Fox and his wonderful group of patient advocates.

When I finally decided to persue the surgical solution to my Morbid Obesity, I returned to the orignal surgeons office.

During the coarse of my work up and insurance approval, I found that Dr. Fox was not signatory to my PPO plan.

Dr. Fox's surgical partner, Dr. Ki OH was infact on my PPO plan. I therefore opted to switch primary surgeons from Fox to OH in order to recieve greater insurance coverage from my insurance provider.

I knew Dr. Oh was a competent surgeon who is recognized by ABS and is also one of the few surgeons who is licensed to TEACH the Gastric Bypass procedure to other surgeons.

My first impression of Dr. Oh's office staff was VERY GOOD! Having a smaller staff than Dr. Fox, they recognize who you are, and know where your paperwork is in the system.

Dr. Oh's staff made me feel like they personely cared for me. I was treated as an individual rather than another one of the "herd" coming in for slaughter.

My impression of Dr. Oh has been very
good. He likes to joke when apropriate but takes his work VERY seriously.

It was important to Dr. Oh that I truly understood the procedure and the post-op diet and life prior to my making the surgical decision. The post-op diet and life diet are more regimented than that of other surgeons I have seen on the web but, Dr. Oh is VERY committed to his patients being HEALTHY, not just thin.

I have heard that if you fail to follow through with the post-op protien and vitamin recomendations and thereby, make yourself ill, Dr. Oh will can become rather cross with the patient.

Some people do not care for a Dr. who would actually get mad at them for not taking care of themselves. I respect him for it though.

His actions show me just how much he cares for each one of his patients. Dr. Oh wants for each one of us to succeed in our weightloss, our health and our lives.

A parent who fails to scold a child who runs into the street without looking, is a parent who does not truly care about the child. The child will eventually get run over.

Parents give us Life and Guidence.
Dr. Oh gives us a chance at a New Life and the Guidence to get there.

Ultimately however, we as adults and
gastric bypass patients must become responsible for OURSELVES.
We must learn to LOVE OURSELVES enough to control what we put into our bodies. Good and Bad. For if we don't, eventually we will become malnourished and, we could die.

I liked Dr. OH right off the bat because he was the no nonsense type.

My impression only got better over time because I got to know him better and began trusting him with everything about me.

Great staff! And am also glad to now be a part of the staff there as Patient Advocate.

Just be prepared for a no nonsense attitude and you'll do just fine.

He emphasizes after care a lot! He will follow you for the rest of your life!

Yes, very structured.

He told me everything that could happen in a no nonsense way.

Both are great, I think.

I really like Dr. Oh. He is a bit quiet, but tells you what you need to know. His office staff is very helpful and encouraging. The only thing I would say is that you need to be SURE you know what your insurance company requires you to have BEFORE your paperwork is first sent in for approval. As I have JUST gotten approved by insurance after 2 appeals, I don't know much about his bedside manner and such.

I went to a seminar yesterday, November 1st. There I met the patient advocate, Kristiina, and a lady who works with Dr. Oh and has also had the surgery, Sherri. All I really have to say is that this is a wonderful group of people and I'm so glad I've chosen the right surgeon. Dr. Oh has a great sense of humor, and also gives you straight-forward facts. I can't wait for my appointment!

My first impression of Dr. Oh was that he is forthright, sincere and matter-of-fact.
His office staff have been very kind, helpful, friendly and knowledgable.
He's a very busy surgeon, but I'm confident he's worth the wait. Dr. Oh comes up a little short in the bedside manner department, but then I don't need or want a funny or slick surgeon. I want the very best, most competent, focused and talented guy on the block. Warm and fuzzy is nice, but I'll sacrifice most or all of that to have SKILL!!! I'm confident I've found the skill I seek in Dr. Oh, and we'll see if there's some bedside manner as we go.

Ohh I had to change this because my negative info was about the old Dr...I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Oh and his staff..to me office staff is very important..cause they are the ones who do the getting all your stuff together..and Dr Oh is very nice and professional..and mostly what I like..doesn't make me feel like I am an awful person for being overweight..like there is some help out there!!!

8/29/02 - I'm looking forward to meeting Dr. Oh Friday, Sept. 6th. His staff has been very kind and informative.

The Dr. seemed very nice, he made some jokes, which really opened things up, one of which telling me if I ate too many carbs, it would give me bad smeely gas, and then I would have no social life, and another about the toilet getting half of the nutrition, so I had better warn my family that the toilet was going to grow. He made sure to include my husband in our discussions and made sure we both knew what we were getting into.
