I liked Dr. Oh when I met him for my first consultation on May 21, 2001. He made me feel comfortable and was willing to spend time with me. He explained the risk and answer any question. VERY PROFESSIONAL! NO "RUSH RUSH" at this doctor's office.
(My surgery was on August 14, 2001 less than 3 months from the initial consultation.)
When searching for a surgeon, I wanted a Surgeon with great skills INSIDE my body, NOT at my BEDSIDE, I found Dr. Oh to be a great surgeon and kind as well, with a sense of humor, once he got to know me.

I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Oh. I've already met Dr. Fox, but my insurance does not cover him, so have decided to have Dr. Oh do the surgery. (Still have to get preapproved for surgery though......) Well, I finally got approved for the surgery and Dr. Oh has been wonderful. The office staff was also great. I did a lot of their leg work in faxing most of the information myself so just needed the letter from the doctor. Apparantly the old saying is true "the squeaky wheel gets the oil".
He has a new website. www.ohtobethin.com.

I had my first visit with Dr. Oh on Feb.18. I really liked him at first impression. He was very informative and made sure that I knew all the pros and cons of the surgery.
His front office staff are truly nice girls and really care about you as a person. Kathy and Sherie are terrific. Thanks Corky for the pictures of the two, because I walked in and said your Kathy and your Sherie (they sure looked at me funny) I finally told them that their pictures were on the internet and they know who did it (Corky). I was sure informed by Dr. Oh that I will be taking vitamins the rest of my life, told him I didn't mind because I will probly now have a nice long life. I guess some people didn't have as good a first visit as I did, but maybe he had a nice lunch before I got there. But I really like him.

Dr. Oh is wonderful - good sense of humor, but VERY DRY. Answered all my questions, and put me at ease. His assistant, Sherri, is a patient of his and was SO wonderful and supportive, sharing her own story and even showing me her scars!
I can't speak to aftercare yet - since I'm not that far along yet - but so far his office is wonderful and helpful.
He has chairs with no arms, both in the waiting room and in the exam room, and a scale that will weigh anyone. These are things that are routinely overlooked in many doctor's offices - but they have them covered - even the scale is behind a little wall so that you're not embarrassed and Sherri makes sure not to announce to the room what your weight is. VERY sensitive staff!

My husband & I met Dr Oh on Feb 4th. He took his time telling us about the surgery, even drew us a picture. Discussed various types of Gastric Bypass, asked us if we had any questions. I think he's very thorough Dr. Told us about the importance of following the post-op diet. Taking the vitamins, calcium, protein & water. He discussed the risks but didn't overemphasize them.
I'll be thinking of questions to ask at my next appointment after my Egd.
His office staff is very congenial & helpfull. They told me about the process to follow to get approval, I'll have to get referrals from my PCP for all the appointments that are required. Means I'll be calling often to co-ordinate things.

Very direct and to the point. Went in knowing this and it helped me to not be offended. Can get some laughs here and there. Felt very confident in his ability as a surgeon. Office staff is very friendly(contrary to other surgeon's office staff in the Seattle area)and helpful in whatever info you may need, though they are very busy.

My first impression of Dr. Fox is "remarkable". He is a funny, caring, man. His office staff has always been friendly and helpful. He emphasizes aftercare as almost as important as the surgery itself. If he does your surgery, his aftercare program results in you being in contact with his office for the rest of your life. He went through all of the risks of surgery, very thouroughly. I haven't had surgery yet, but will post on additional meetings with this doctor.
Dr. Ross, unfortunately, wasn't covered under my insurance plan. So I went to a meeting with Dr. Weber's office. I certainly didn't like him. Not only was the meeting rushed, but he didn't tell me enough to make an informed decision. So, I looked some more and found out the Dr. Oh was covered and that he is associated with Dr. Fox. That clinched it for me. I met with Dr. Oh and found him to be straight-forward. I think he could work on his bedside manner. I will keep you posted on how it goes.
