Great sense of humor at the orientation. Answered questions thoroughly and in everyday language most people can understand. His office staff are very friendly and polite. Reception/waiting room is very small and very busy. Aftercare very emphasized with all the follow-ups you need, vitamins, support group importance, etc. Risks and possible complications explained fully. Dr. Oh will answer all questions you ask - but you must ask. Surgical competence is most important - I can get bedside manners from the nurses or my family. His office is so busy that it is difficult to contact them. Hopefully that will improve.

The one thing I would say about Dr. Oh is that he's not there to be your friend. However, he's done about twenty billion of these surgeries and you couldn't really ask for a more skilled surgeon. My personal opinion is that if you require friendly banter or amiable interaction and great bedside manner, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a smart doctor with a low rate of complications, Dr. Oh might be a good surgeon for you.

My first impression of Dr. Oh was that he is all business. It is true, he is. He is very serious, but that is what I needed, a great doctor. I got the bedside manner from the nurses, which was awesome. Dr. Oh's office is extremely busy, which makes it difficult to get ahold of him or his staff. That is the only negative in my experience with him.

My surgeon is absolutely wonderful and so is his assistant Dr. Hirahi. My first impression of Dr. Oh is that he is a very serious person. He knows what he is doing and expects a lot from his patients. He is not in to wasting his or your time. I read some of his other patients comments on him. They all said that he doesn't have a good bedside manner. Well, I disagree. My surgery was scheduled for 7/29/08 and I didn't make it past the OR. Once in the OR and put to sleep, that was as far as they could go. The breathing tube would not go in and I spiked a very high grade fever. So, for my safety, they had to bring me too without having the surgery. Dr. Oh & Dr. Hirahi came to my side prior to going to perform another surgery and they were great. Both were very comforting and letting me know that it was not over with, and that I would have the surgery once my Pulmonologist gave me the \"All Clear\". This just makes me want to have them as my surgeons. I am looking forward to continue working with them because I know they are on my side and that they want me to succeed.

I found Dr. Oh to be very informative and funny. He has a good manner with his patients. His office is always so busy - often there isn't room for everyone to sit. Trying to get a hold of anyone in the office on the phone is next to impossible and can be aggravating, but I'm told they are working on that situation. The office staff are very nice and willing to talk and answer questions. I would recommend Dr. Oh to anyone wanting to undergo bariatric surgery.

I went to my first appt with Dr. Oh. He was nice enough. His office was VERY busy. There was no place to sit down as all the chairs were taken. I will say that Dr. Oh needs to work on some decorations in his exam rooms. They were very boring. Also, about 90% of the magazines in his waiting area were car or sport magazines. There was nothing to read.rn

I first met Dr. Oh at the informational seminar. I thought that he was very intelligent & quite funny. He gave us all 5 options of WLS. I chose to have Lap-band. He takes the whole process very seriously. From pre testing to following up... he wants me to be successful. His office is very busy, and getting ahold of them via the phone is the biggest down-side.rnrnI'll answer more once I've had the surgery.

Dr. Ki H. Oh is a fine surgeon, who cares deeply about his patients. He can demonstrate a rather brusk manner while seeing him in his office on occasion. At his seminar, he displayed a wonderful, dry sense of humor that I did not experience while pre-op during office visits. However, at the hospital, post-op, he was very affable and much like the person I saw in the seminar. He is thorough about EVERYTHING and he is very strict about your pre-op and post-op behavior. The pre-op diet is gnarly, but worth the work as it gets you used to the post-op behaviors beforehand.rnrnAll in all, I would recommend Dr. Oh heartily, if you're looking for an excellent surgeon. If you want a best friend, look elsewhere. If I had to do this over again, knowing what I know now, I would still choose Dr. Oh in a heartbeat.
