Leo Murphy Bariatric Surgeon
I liked him right away. His staff was friendly and anserwed all my questions. He does require weight loss prior to surgery, for me it was 15 pounds. During the consult her tells you all the risk and let you know that it is up to you. Reminds me of my old coach in high school. He gets you moving, for your best. I still like him even after sugery...what does that say..My family was upset with him. He never called or notifed them that I was out of surgery. This seems to be a common compaint with the surgeons.
I liked this guy right off the bat! He appears to be no nonesense type of guy, but very knowledgeable and caring. Explains everything to you in plain English and even draws a picture of what the procedure looks like. He told me that people who do what he suggest for their pre-op, are put at the top of the list! He asked me to loose 12 lbs of fat, gain 2 lbs of muscle, and be able to do 20 minutes on the treadmill at 6 degrees. Once I do this I have to go back to one of the lectures, weigh in, and if my numbers are right he said 'be ready' because I will get a call shortly after with a surgery date and they may not give me a lot of time to get there!
Dr Murphy, he is very caring and knowledgeable. He is concerned about his patient.
Dr Murphy office is ran with consideration of the patines needs. Dr Murphy is one of the best in this field, I think. That if you think that your going into his office confindent that you have done all you need to do before the surgury, than think again. he will have more for you to do. Com prepaird with a triner picked out and working with prior to your visit with Dr Murphy.
Yes Dr Murphy dose, if you think it's over after the suregury it is not. Very much so.
Dr Murphy is in your face and very serious about this life long gerney that we have chosen. I will reat Dr Murphy a 10 1/2 across the board.
he explaned and drew a diagram explaining the surgery and risks involved.
Every one in his office is very helpful.
After surgery he dosent spend much time with you.He seems very rushed But he will answer any question you have. And that is what is important to me.
I would rate him a 9 His surgical competence is great. my inscion is very straight and it healed very well.
I was so afraid to meet Dr. Murphy because I had heard that he was mean and his bedside manner was not all that great. I had also heard he was very strict and had a big head. I went in there and expected to hate this egotistical "god" and already planning on how to change surgeons. Well I met with the mental health person and she passed me and was very nice, then I went to the Internist and he was even nicer. I was very impressed so far, but the big test was Dr. Murphy. The office staff was very nice and made me feel comfortable. When they took me in a room I waited for probably 45 minutes befor he finally came in the room, and he was an absolute charmer. He was kind and explained why he wanted certain things done and was very interested in my outcome. He addressed all questions without me even asking. I really am glad I did not listen to other people and cancel with him. My date he said will be some time after December 15, I have to lose about 15 pounds and keep exercising.
Dr.Leo Murphy was very nice. He answered my questions and is requiring me to lose 19 pounds, join a gym.
Thought I would update about what I think of Dr.Leo Murphy...He is the greatest,he is kind and really cares about his patients.
I ended up having complications with the surgery I overhealed and had adheasions and a fistula and an ulcer. Dr.Murphy had to do an second surgery on me called a revision.
The thing about Dr.Murphy that really was great was the fact that he always has a smile on his face and he is always upbeat and positive. This really helped me hang in there over 3 weeks in the hospital.
Dr.Leo Murphy is the greatest and anyone who has him (or his daughter Dr.Mary Murphy) as their surgeon is blessed indeed....
Oh yes on a scale of 1-10 Dr.Leo is 14
This is my experience
Dr. Leo Murphy, He was kind, direct and straightforward. I took him at face value and he was very Caring and Considerate.
The office staff was great helpful and gracious. He has a sense of Humor. There was nothing I like least about him. He appreciate that his paients take the surgery serious and do what is asked of them before they make it to there first appointment with him. He emphasize aftercare alot and was concerned that we be able to get up and walk 4 hours after the surgery so that healing begins immediately. From what I was told the aftercare program is exceptional. He went over the risks 1,2,3 and explained all the complications and risk to me in detail. He is a great Dr. and I would rate him 100 out of 100. He has a great bedside manner and his surgical competence was quite apparent. He has a gold Star in my opinion.
I had my consult on 9/2 and was so very pleased with Dr. Leo Murphy. He came in with a big smile and was really nice to my mother. He fully outlined the risks associated with the surgery and identified ways in which I could prepare myself to prevent these risks. His nurses were very nice and explained what was going to happen. You do need to be prepared and know that he has a mandatory weight loss BEFORE he'll approve you for surgery and a strong emphasis on exercise. He said he doesn't care about flat walking, he wanted me to work up to 25 minutes at a 6 degree elevation 4 times a week! So far so good!
