I feel in Love with my surgeon first time I meet with him. He is very confident and great manners. His staff is busy and at times can be OK. I finally grew to know them.I did fall in Love with Dr. Kirk that assists with Dr. Gorospe. Dr. Kirk was heaven sent. the day of the surgery he held my hand and said, No need to be afarid I prayed about sugery today and you will be fine for God will direct my hands and Dr. gorospes. He knew exactly what I was thinking. He was heaven sent. He is a Godly man and that is AWSOME!!!!!The Dr. will give you a booklet in a folder full of needed info!!!! All the info you need. He told me everything about the surgery pre-op and held nothing back. But you know the risks of not having surgery is far more greater than anything. I rate my surgeons a 10. I vote for them 100% They are AWSOME!!!!

My first impression was that his staff was very knowledgeable. However the meeting did seem rushed and in the short time I met with the doctor I wanted to discuss which type of surgery would better fit my needs. He seemed to be in a hurry, so I was left with a few questions.

In his presentation the staff emphasized the need for aftercare and that this was not a one time fix, it is something you have to live with everyday and continually monitor yourself and your health.

I was very impressed with Dr. G!! He was such a compassionate person. I don't feel he talked to me like I was just a medical condition like many other doctors have. Dr. G and his nursing staff are very thorough and made sure to answer all our questions. My surgery date is scheduled for May 9th. I'm sooo looking forward to starting my new life.

Dr. Gorospe is an extremely knowledgable surgeon. He seems to have a lot of patients, and obviously he and his staff are very busy. However, after the initial consultation group meeting, he spent some time with each patient discussing thoughts and concerns. The group meeting was extremely informative. The individual consultation was not rushed, and he seemed to be a person genuinely interested in helping those who are morbidly obese in getting help! I really appreciated his honesty and matter-of-factness. My surgery date is scheduled for May 13th (first consult was April 9), so I'm on my way to becoming a "loser"!

Willing to answer all questions. My impression of him didn't really change over time. His office staff is great to help with questions, insurance or anything! Lita was most helpful to me with questions from her own experience. Everyone I have talked to said he is an excellent surgeon. I did talk with medical professionals who all agreed he is an excellent surgeon.
He was generous with post-op pain meds to keep me comfortble. I brought my own abdominal binder because he doesn't always order one. I've had surgery before and didn't want to live without a binder!!
He has an excelent support group that meets once a month. Gave me printed information on aftercare and diet.
Gave me a book that described ALL risks of the surgery.
Over all I rate him excellent.
I would have to say his surgical competence is the best. Although I was offered time to ask questions at each of his visits.

Dr. Gorospe is a very kind, gentle man who seems to have a real compassion for people who struggle with obesity. His office staff are wonderful and very helpful. He is very informative and knowledgeable. His assitant surgeon is excellent as well. He is also one of the funniest men I've ever met. He definitely could be a stand up commedian. He was the one that visited me in the pre-op room right before surgery and he had me really at ease.

Very Dedicated

Office Staff seems to be very busy but also very helpful. At least one has had the surgery and I had the good fortune for her to be assigned to my case, her name is Lita.

He is so busy. My calculations are that he must perform at least 8 of these surgeries a day. He certainly has had the practice, this must be why he has so few problem patients.

Has not really addressed the risks of surgery yet other than just in passing questions.

Rating so far is: Very interested and dedicated to helping people, namely the Obese.

I will let you know the answer to the others as I find out.

Dr. Gorospe is awesome! I swear to you, this man saved my life. His office staff is friendly and helpful. The only thing I can think of that I DON'T like is how crowded his office always seems to be. But on the other hand, that means he is popular and has a good reputation, which is reassuring. He was very thourough and patient in answering all my questions. I would definitely refer him to my friends who are considering surgery. I give him four stars!

I would say my 1st impression was my best, it has not been a great or even good exprience for me. Dr. G was more of a herder than I cared for ,but I wanted to loss weight so badly that I went ahead and stuck it out w/him.I guess my surgery was normal, but I went back about a year later. past the regular monthly check ups. and he is still herding people thru. He doesn't take much time to answer questions. And after only 4 yrs, I have had 35lbs,gain which bothered me. I could live with a pound or two a yr. I'm 40 and that would be slow enough that I would not be back at morbide obise when I died. But this rate is not what I understood to happen when I went in. I m thankful that I lived thru surgery. But I cant help but wonder if the surgery was done correctly, sence I dont get much statistics of weight gain ,or even leveling off ect. I would just like too let people know that if it is not exactly what you expected you are not alone. And if you are having the surgery,be sure to ask every question even if the Dr. doesn't like it.
Because after falling diets, yoyo weight lose it is very hard for me to understand why a Dr. would think you would go thru so much PAIN and so much money, to feel like another failure because this too has not work.I can't say I wouldn't do it over BUT I would be very picky about my Dr. I get the impression he is more about money. If you could find a different Dr. to do the surgery that someone you know personally used then and are doing good I would go that route. Staff-who are they ,everyone is so busy you wait out front,go in the office wait, the dr. may jump in,leave. I never was told of any unusual risk.He does hundreds every year, right? aftercare is there for 1 year, use it if you want too, but never stressed.(just for the record I went) I do want to add I think it is a good thing! I wish every person I see that is huge could have this surgery,I know the way it feels to be fat,I know it is not just stop eating. So I guess what I want to say is good luck to everyone getting it. just follow the book,go to every meeting ,dr appt.,enjoy losing weight, I really do wish it does work for you. Because while I was at the lowest weight I had I felt great!!!!! I just wasn't ready to be fat again.

My first impression of Dr. Gorospe was how could such a small person know so much about obesity. Boy was I wrong. He was very informative and answered every question that I had, plus some. I could not have picked a better doctor or staff.
Dr. Gorospe stresses aftercare and meetings a lot. If you find a doctor that does not stress this, than you need to find another doctor.
I would say that Dr. Gorospe's surgical competence is his best feature, he is so very busy that his bedside manner is polite but quick.
All I can say for him and all of his staff is that they were definately the best choice for me. I would recommend him to anyone!
