My first impression of Dr. Gorospe was very good. Dr. Kirk was also my surgeon. I like them both very much. The office staff is also very helpful. They are very busy, and I found I had to be very patient. If you don't get a call back from them just call them back, they didn't seem to mind when I did. I would rate the doctors a 9 overall on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best.

Dr. Luis Gorospe and his assistant Dr. JoeBob Kirk were very nice. I only briefly talked to Dr. Gorospe after surgery when he stopped by my room. Dr. Kirk was the main Dr. that checked up on me and was great.
They assign you a case worker that you deal with when you call in. I have not been very happy with the one that is assigned to me. She takes 2 days to return my calls. Also, right after I had the surgery, I called in with a problem of nausea that she had to contact the gastro Dr. She didn't followup and didn't call me back. I had to call back, remind her of the problem, and then ended up the gastro Dr. myself. He said that he called them but they never called me. Other office staff have been OK but I'm not overly thrilled with them.
The aftercare program was laid out pretty well and discussed well. You know pretty much exactly what you need to do. Diet plans were given and I was given a number to a dietician if I had any questions about what I could or could not eat.
Dr. Gorospe makes sure that you are in good health before the surgery. It is mandatory that you get approval from a heart Dr., gastro Dr., lung Dr., and pschyc Dr. prior to scheduling surgery. This allows him to know exactly what problems you and what to expect during surgery.
Overall, I would rate the Dr. a 7-8 but the office staff at a 4-5.
Surgical competence is a must but a bedside manner does go a long way. You will have questions, concerns and you need someone that will explain that to you. Dr. Kirk was great about that.

Dr.Gorospe is very educated and intune with the bariatric patients. I really liked him .He is very honest and upfront about the surgery and possible problems.
The office staff was nice but at the same time distant. Rushed.....
Very educational on the after care program and support group.I would rate my first visit as a 9 on a scale of 1-10.

I liked Dr. Gorospe upon first meeting him. I thought he was compassionate and caring about overweight people.
I think he is a fine surgeon. Several people in our company have had the surgery and not one of them has had any complications. Dr. Kirk in his office is the greatest guy in the world.
The only problem I have is that they are just so darn busy there at his office. It takes a while for the office girls to call you back and when you go in for your appointment you have to wait hours.
I would take surgical competence over bedside manner any day, but it is nice to have a doctor that has both. What Dr. Gorospe lacks in bedside manner Dr. Kirk makes up for.
