Baptist Hospital of Pensacola Hospital
Baptist Hospital has a wonderful Bariatric program. They offer support groups, counseling, and will soon have a clothing exchange. While I was there, new furniture was being delivered specifically designed for Bariatric patients. I got a great new recliner in my room! I did not have to ask for a private room, I was given one automatically. There was plenty of room and privacy for my family to visit me anytime wihtout disturbing others. The nurses were awesome - very caring, supportive and motivating. I would recommend this hospital, specifically the surgical floor (2-west) to anyone who plans surgery.
I can tell you that I had several wonderful nurses while I was there for almost three weeks. They were well trained and had wonderful personalities.
The food was ok, but then we aren't there for food are we??? :-) The one thing i didn't like was that since I had complications i was unable to shower and they never offered to give me a sponge bath, I even asked once and the lady told me that since my family was there that they wouldn't do it. SO always ask and be persistent.
I really like the hospital. The staff everywhere was nice and helpful. I had a nice private room. I did have a few problems with the hospital stay. On two occasions, nurses helped me to the bathroom then left me there without any assistance afterwards. Once I asked for my pain medicine and they forgot. Nurses seem to work on paperwork mostly during their shift than tending to their patients. This could be due to the nursing shortage. My nurse was typically taking care of 6 patients at the same time. I might see situations differently because I am a nursing student right now and I might be to critical also. But I do know that not once did a nurse check my wrist band or ask my name before giving medicine. This is standard procedure and is written in a paperwork the hospital gives you outlining your rights to safety. So I was very disappointed about that.
Baptist Hospital has really come along way. The hospital is a old hospital, but they have done alot of remodeling and adding on to the building. I was very pleased with the staff, cleaniness of the hospital and promt attention that I got from the nurses. They also had nurses in training and I feel like I got extra attention.
I thought this was an excellent hospital. I felt the doctors, nursing and tech. staff were first quality, they seemed to really care about my pain and took care not to inflict pain when drawing blood and putting Iv's in. The appearance is pleasing here as well, it is very clean and nicely decorated. I rate this hospital 10 of 10.
