Mills-Peninsula (COE) Hospital

My 2 complaints are: Many nurses aides as well as some nurses don't speak English very well, so there was some communication problems at times. The other is that the bathroom in your room doesn't lock and the nurses or aides DO NOT knock before entering. I had a nurse just walk in on me, and instead of stepping back and shutting the door she just came in to get somthing that she was looking for. I understand that in a hospital setting you lose some privacy, but that was un acceptable.

The hospital overall was good. My mom stayed with me the whole time, and they brought her a recliner and blankets and pillow to sleep with. I did not care for some of the nurse's who would not listen to me about my IV which got infiltrated and had to be changed to the other arm. Also the first night I could start stage 1 diet, the nurses gave me a regular, full of sugar, popsicle. Thankfully my husband noticed it before I ate any. It would have been hell if my mom hadn't been with me. She did a lot of things the nurse's were to busy to do, like change my bed sheets, get me ice and other things. They seemed to be short staffed. A few of the nurse's were very good.

I had one major problem.......the day after my surgery I had many friends and co-workers calling and if they called and asked for me by name they were told I was discharged. The only people that got thru to me were the ones who I called and gave my room number to. Evidently somone entered me in the computer as leaving less that 12 hours after my surgery. I wondered why some people weren't calling and didn't find out until I got home and got all the voice mails saying "WOW, YOU GOT OUT SO FAST" Also, I think due to the same computer error, my meals never arrived with everyone elses.....the nurses had to call down and order mine each day, each meal and I had to wait an hour or so after everyone else was served. A little annoying, but these things can happen I guess.
