The Biggest Loser:  Season 14 to Focus on Childhood Obesity

Season 14 of The Biggest Loser is set to launch in just a few weeks but it won’t be just the usual cast of obese adults as in seasons past.   This year, the cast will include three overweight teens as the coaches address the epidemic of childhood obesity by mentoring the young castmates.

As a new mom,  and once an overweight teen herself, the issue of childhood obesity is especially close to trainer Jillian Michaels heart but she recognizes that having the teens on the show comes with some controversy.  She assures viewers that the show is done in a very sensitive way and hopes that it will prompt people to start talking about childhood obesity.  Having the teens on the show is one of the reasons Michaels decided to return for another season.

The teens, Noah Gray (13), Sanjana Chandrasekar (16), and Lindsay Bravo (13),  will not taking part of the elimination process and will not be subject to on camera weigh ins.  They will continue to live at home and travel back and forth to the ranch and will participate in challenges and sports events to help them learn to live a healthier lifestyle.  They will also act as mascots of sorts to the teams of adults and will compete with their selected teams.

What are your thoughts about having overweight teens as castmates on The Biggest Loser?  We would love to hear from you!
