I think you are doing great. I also think it is wonderful you are using the gym. I have gotten on the treadmill some but I can't seem to make it across town to the gym. I am hoping that will change when school is out. You and I are close to the same pace. I actuall started my ticker 2 weeks before my surgery when I started my liquid diet. I lost 16 lbs before the surgery. Keep up the great work.

I still desire crunchy foods so I was making homemade cheese crisps for a while. Very simple to make and crunchy if ya can master the method! Lately, tho, I have found a new fav in soy crispers and turkey bacon! I do the bacon in the micro for about 2 mins and it comes out super crispy. Oh, and seafood! Tilapia baked in the oven with a little bit of lemon juice, minced garlic and Sazon. Shrimp sauteed with finely diced onions and garlic. I've been avoiding carbs as much as possible.. the soy crispers are a little higher in carbs, but it's all fiber so I don't mind it as much. Plus they have a decent protein rating.

For all the April 2010 people out there, how has your weight loss been up to this point? I had my surgery April 12 and my surgery weight was 330. Currently I have been fluctuating between 298 and 301 for this entire week. Losing 30 to 33 pounds in a little over 6 weeks is beyond amazing, but I was just curious if this was typical or if I should be losing more.
This entire week I have had just slight fluctuations, but no real weight lost... I am hoping that some of that is because I joined a gym May 15th and have been working out just about every night since. I try to do cardio every night and muscle toning 2 to 4 days a week. I know that the weight lifting is going to add muscle weight, so I am trying to stay posative and chalk it up that. Is there anyone else out there who started working out and may have hit the same situation?

yes, they did tell me about not having any anti-inflamms. they think it is a hernia on the staple line, if it's not feeling better in 2 weeks they will do an endoscopy. he said the hernias on staple lines are common so nothing major. still taking meds to coat my stomach. we will see what happens! go back on the 14th again unless food won't stay down then i need to call to see if i have a stricture.

I have been lucky and able to tolerate chicken and beef. Fish is out of the question though. Never liked it before surgery. Tried some light fish and it went half way down and right back up..so I stay with the chicken, tender beef only, eggs and cheese. Then a few veggies or fruit if room. Or I do the greek plain greek yogart with strawberries. It has 15gm of protein. But I agree, it seems like the same thing over and over. Been searching on line for different recipes and found a few, but its only me eating them, and I don't care for left overs much. So I seem to be staying with simple things such as reduced fat cheese with eggs or slice of meat; or the yogart. Good luck with the variety. I know exactly what you mean.

LOL, I have been BUSY =)
But a bit of an update!
I am 6 weeks out )4-13). I just had my 6 week follow-up appt with surgeon. Everything is looking good. I can tolerate all foods so far except really dry stuff (obviously). I CAN eat crackers and bread, though it's only like 2 bites of bread or ONE cracker. ROFL
I am down to 265 from 297 surgery weight. I am bloated right now due to AF though =P My second one since surgery. Something I have NOT missed in the past 2 years!! I have an IUD and it's been light, no cramps, but still a pain to deal with.
I had tons of bloodwork done, like 7 vials. I posted about them on the main board so the lab rats can peruse them =) I think they look good right now, but I would suspect that future labs would be indicative of problems. My "stores" are good.
Hope you all have been FABULOUS! =) MWAH!
I will try to start reading the boards every day again soon!

My diet is still boring. But if you haven't tried it, get some hot-n-sour soup mix. It's very good. The kind I get is from Kikkoman, says Chinest Style Egg Flower Soup Mix. Hot-n-Sour is the flavor. I use two eggs and add a small amount of tofu. It really cranks up the protein. I also add a few drops of chili oil for extra heat.
I've actually been having a harder time eating solids food, not sure why. Just experiment. I'm going to try chili with melted cheese tomorrow.
