I had lapband surgery 12/222/09 and was told to go on a liquid diet fo 7 days before surgery. I lost 10 lbs. drinking liquids, especially buillion, and having applesauce and cottage cheese. That's what was recommended to me by the Dr's office.

I had my surgery on 12/15. I don't know if i have dumping syndrome but i get awful diahrhea after certain foods (i know sorry TMI). And its not even sugar. I got sick on day after a piece of cheese so i stopped eating that brand. and then another day from chicken and veggies that I had put soy sauce in only at a mongolian bbq place, not sure what it was that made me sick since I controlled the items. I get cramps too. I'm assuming mild form of dumping. I'm too scared to eat sugar to find out what dumping is!

Hi Mark - I think I've lost about 22 pounds too - Im trying to to weight myself very often, so I might be off by a pound of two either way.  I can eat more of some things than others....it just depends - for example, I can eat only about 1/8 cup of refried beans, but I can eat close to 1/2 cup of split pea soup.  I'm finally starting to feel normal again - I had a lot of pain last weekend and had to have a CT which showed a pocked of infection under one of the incisions - but I got antibiotics and am fine now.

Good luck to you!!

Hi there My surgery was the same day!
I haven't had any dumping either, I can eat 1/3 cup of my hot cereal and I don't get that stuffed feeling,  I haven't tried any sweets but I am loving the SF popsicles when I get that urge to munch.

what are you doing to exercise these 3 weeks, I am down 22 pounds how are you doing?

RNY

I drink the crystal light strawberry with calcium crystals in it - they are tasteless so they give me the calcium without changing the taste of the crystal light.

oatmeal goes down very well (it was the very first meal they gave me in the hospital).  I bought plain (yuck) quaker instant and I make a whole packet with 2 equals and about a tablespoon of cinnamon.  I only eat 1 oz and 1 oz od unsweetened applesauce (my hubby eats the rest of the oatmeal).

So far no problems with any of the food - SF pudding (1 oz.), LF cheese sticks (.84 oz per stick), SF jello (this you can have all day long as it is basically water), SF popsicles or fudgesicles (again an all day thing - watch the fudgsicles if you have lactose issues).

Hope this helps!  Let me know how it goes!

Topic: Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions...VERY BAD TIME OF THE YEAR!
http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/crossingtotransferaddictions/

Hi All,

There is a new OH Online Support Group. The above link will get you there.
It's called
Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions.

This group discusses the issue of transfer addictions (also known as cross addictions) after weight loss surgery. there are millions of people who have undergone gastric bypass who are now dealing with issues of addiction transfer.

For a number of people, giving up overeating leads to adoption of a new compulsion.

Addiction transfer occurs when someone is unable or unwilling to rely on one compulsion (for us, it was food) and so switches to a new compulsion (alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, shopping, internet, porn, etc) due to not having dealt with the underlying issue behind the compulsion.

***Please feel free (and safe) to join and discuss any and/all issues you have regarding Transfer Addiction. ***

WE WILL SUPPORT EACH OTHER WITHOUT JUDGEMENT!

Chicken in what form? I bought sliced turkey today and tried a tiny piece. I'm eating more frequently to get as much protein in as I can (sooooo scared about the hair loss!), but never more than 3oz at a time. I tried Trader Joes creamy tomato soup earlier and it was so delicious!

I feel constantly like my stomach is empty. Is that just psychological?
