 Hi,

Glad to meet you.  There are several groups in the Evansville area, also a couple of options for surgeons.  I'll PM you for more details.  Also, go to our Evansville Area group here on OH.

Topic: Having to step away
Sadly I must say farewell.  I have given up hope of having WLS done.  First of all I cant afford the trip to Indy every month.  I live an hour and a half away in Brazil.  I cant afford the food for the SWL class or rather the liver reduction diet.  Has anyone really priced meat lately?   I also cant eat said food.  I have to have all my teeth removed over the next year or so.  They are crumbling.  Guess its from my having Lupus. So I am stuck like this, stuck in this body till I get a miracle.

I read the requirements for medicaid.  They needed 6 months supervised (documented)weight loss, I had that in my medical records.  So why cant that be used?  I wanted this more than anything in my life.  I wanted to live.  I quit smoking, i backed off on the caffeine.

I found out I had to have a CPAP.  Apparently I quit breathing something like 27.1 times an hour.  For as long as 48 sec.  Still no high blood pressure, or diabetes.  I do have problems with my sugar dropping.....

Anyways thanks for having me here...Will leave my profile just in case I get that miracle.  Good luck to everyone on their journey.  God Speed to you all.  And remember this if you can, no matter what happens you are all beautiful people.

I hope you can go!  It will be a blast!  I loved the one in Chicago.  If you haven't gotten your ticket yet, use the code in my siggy line to get a discount.  I'm rooming with Tracy and Peggy - I think we're full, but there's a lot of others going!

Dawn,

If it's July 10th, I might be able to come. The first weekend in August though, we'll be out of town.

It'd be good to see you again.

KerryJean - we usually have a pitch in lunch with everyone bringing WLS friendly foods.  Bring clothes that don't fit you anymore.  We sort the clothes out by sizes.

After lunch, we usually get the signal from the hostess to begin shopping.  Those of us that have had WLS go first.  15 minutes later, it is open to everyone there, whether they have had WLS or not.  Simply go through the clothes and take what you want.

Anything left over is usually donated to the church.  We also usually bring non perishable food items to donate to the church's food pantry as a thank you for allowing us to use their facility.

We shop, and have a lot of fun!

Dawn - not sure I could do July 10th.  Hubs leaves that day for his Grand Canyon hiking trip.  Depends on how early he leaves.

Topic: RE: Medicaid requirements?
Hi.  My dr. was going to be Dr. Huse before I switched locations.  I also was getting nowhere, but it was not the insurance, it was the location.  (St. Vincent)  I live down by Evansville and I have gone to the St. V support grp down here for over a year.  Not b/c I was mandated to but b/c I have wanted to and it doesn't hurt the chance of approval.
My best answer would be that if you do what the center recommends and get them to send the ins. paperwork for approval you should be approved.  Make sure when you go to the support grps to get a proof of attendance sheet for your office and for ins.  One form each meeting is enough.  Let me know if I can help you further!   And good luck!

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
As of today,  6-12-10 I know Dr. Huse is the only Dr. at St. Vincent Carmel who takes medicaid.   At Clarian Bariatric all the drs. take Medicare and Medicaid.  Both locations are Center of Excellence.  My dr. will be Dr. Evanson.  He works with both locations but only takes Medicare/Medicaid at Clarian.  Why?  I don't know.  Their numbers are
St. Vincent Carmel   317-582-7088
Clarian Bariatrics     317-275-7010
