Happy Wednesday Gang. Well we ended up not making it to the Y last night because we had issues at work and I didn't get out until 5:30. By the time I got home it was almost 6:30 and honestly after being up since 4am I was a bit beat, but tonight is another night and my plan is to do the weight machines to work on tightening up under my arms, inner thighs, and stomach.
Not 100% sure what happened with the water wash, but they didn't get the boiler back up and running until 1am this morning which is very unusual. Another day in the scale house, but I should be getting out at 4 today.
QOTD: What is your biggest cravings downfall sweet or salty? Mine is 100% salty. I can have candy or ice cream sitting in the freezer or cupboard forever, but chips, popcorn anything salty even pickles nope they don't stand a chance.
B: coffee and 3 chicken salad stuffed peppers
L: salad with cottage cheese
D: Not sure we have some leftover stuff
weight machines tonight and maybe the pool
Have a great Hump Day Everyone!!!
So sorry to hear your wrist is bad. Do you happen to have an office chair that has the central post going between a wheel assembly at the floor and the bottom of the seat? My son got one for me a few Christmases ago and it is fine when I pivot to my sewing table but my 'desk' is a vintage NCR workbench that is probably the same height as a drafting table, about 5" difference. Maybe raising your chair would give you better ergonomics so that you don't have to have help raising the desk.
On Amazon I found taller wheels and a neat set of extender/support clamps for the center support and now it's raised enough but not too much so I can use it at both desks. The listing lingo on one that is just like mine says 'Office Chair Cylinder Replacement-Sytopia Fix Sinking Office Chairs, 4 pieces clamps for Height Extenders up to 5 inches...' and I got these replacement wheels: 'Office Rubber Chair Casters Replacement, 3 Inch Heavy-Duty Computer Gaming Desk Caster Wheels Smooth & Safe Rolling for All Floors Including Hardwood and Carpet. Set of 5' And the nice thing is that I was able to make those changes all by myself.
Are you anywhere near being the age your state defines as Senior? In Spokane we are that age, meet the income limit and have gotten on the special Senior property tax rate program. HUGE help.
Hugs.

Ooh, I definitely want to try your egg salad. Sounds like you invented a winner there.
Enjoy your A/C! It is one of the best inventions.

Sounds to me like you made a good call on the rotten shark. What if you'd gotten food poisoning and missed the rest of your vacation? Sorry the cold has gone through your family. Sounds like you might want to get that chest checked, it could be an infection in there.
Feel all the way better soon!

Your breakfast bowl looks yummy and your hydrangeas are beautiful. Sorry you have high temps again. Ours have been a roller coaster so far, have yours? This summer it seems like Mother Nature said, 'Hold my beer!' That or she's off her meds.
QOTD: Probably some Nonna in Italy made this first and it has a real name but I thought I invented it: White Spaghetti or Day-Before-Payday Pasta. Hubs was a one-striper airman, we lived on the economy in Germany and I wasn't working; one day before payday there was only some butter, a partial sour cream and Kraft parm in the fridge. I boiled and drained what was left of pantry spaghetti noodles, returned to the pan, added s&p, butter and the sour cream. When it was all melty some parm went in then shook more on it at the table. Not healthy but it fed us and we've made it often ever since just 'cause we like it. It's nice not being that poor anymore, haha.
The grandkids came over yesterday and it was a chaotic whirlwind, so much fun. My breakfast shake lasted till around 2 and I finally ate again at 7 when they'd gone and we'd cleaned up. Weird meal: 1/2 c. ff cottage cheese, 3 oz poached chicken breast and an unremarkable veg. Still trying to hit 30# gone (only three pounds away!) so I'm being strict.
B: Choc. Protein/Collagen/Almond milk shake with a generic Miralax my dr. wants me to switch to. So far, no tummy pain.
D: It was supposed to be a frittata, ended up a scrambled mess: 1/4 cup egg substitute, 1 medium zucchini diced, 2 pieces turkey bacon, diced. Some Alpine Touch helped. Way behind on protein, calories and fat today so later for a snack a Fairlife shake for the macros.
Therapy again tomorrow. Tri(To-Get)Care wasn't paying the bill and the therapists billing dept. were trying to come after me for $500. The bill trouble was worth it -finally resolved- and I've made really good progress that I never believed would happen. I don't have to go down stairs backwards holding the rail for dear life or pull myself up by the rail. PT exercises getting better but I still don't do the DUI Walk well. That should get better.
Have a nice evening and I'll see you tomorrow.

I bought a home that ended up being too much for me to take care of when I started losing strength. At 70 I started having issues with the stairs and had to told on to the railings and pull when i walked up the stairs. I had stairs and some rooms were lower than others. After a few falls and broken bones, I put the home on the market and got a one floor condo. It makes like so much easier to have the issues with the place taken care of by the HOA. I look out the window and see them mowing, trimming, shoveling snow, painting or fixing the roof and I am happy I am not doing it.
I finally retired about a year ago. My bills are lower with the condo, but I was scared to death. You still spend money when you are retired. I now need help with laundry because my washer and dryer are upstairs and I don't want to carry laundry up and down the stairs. I pay someone to clean the house. I sold my car and stopped driving, so I have to pay people to take me to appointments. All things that cost money and that I did not anticipate when I felt stronger.
One thing that might help is that housing has gone up and you might be surprised what you can sell for. Also talk to the bank about reduced interest rates. My nephew go his home loan reduced to 2%. These are all tough decisions so take your time. What I did was retire and then work part time for extra money.

Your food and flowers all look so beautiful. I have not invented anything but am experimenting with grits. I have not gotten the taste I want and have gotten in restaurants. I have used water, milk, cream, butter and cheese and none of my attempts tastes good to me. But it is fun trying.

That is an amazing story about the shark and this cold will make sure you never forget it. I once was invited to dinner with a black family. I always heard them talk about chitterlings and put some on my plate. I took one bite and felt like I was swallowing urine. I walked over to the trash can and put the rest from my plate in the trash. Nobody said anything but I am sure they were annoyed. I just could not eat the rest of the food, which was excellent with those things on my plate. You did the right thing to pass on the shark.
Jim, you may need some penicillin or a steroid to completely get rid of your cold. Hope it resolves on its own.

Afternoon y'all.
quick post from me. My mom had an appointment this morning and we're fixing to head to a certain grocery store for tangerines that are on sale for my mom.
Nothing much to do today. Some stuff around the house. That's about it. Not feeling the greatest but it is what it is.
QOTD: other than baking I rarely follow official recipes. I make up a lot. Something it works sometimes it doesn't. I make egg bowls with hard boiled eggs, turkey sausage and cheese. Sometimes some bruschetta that I get from Walmart. Sometimes pickle relish.
B: burrito and coffee
L: ??? Maybe some of the roast with street taco tortillas
D: ??????
have a good one y'all!
I would have passed on the stinky shark too!
QOTD- My breakfast is pretty much boring, Greek yogurt and raspberries when they are reasonable.
It's supposed to be 93 today, I will try to keep the house cool. I hate closing the blinds and drapes but with a 2 story house it's the only way I can keep my bedroom cool. The A/C works great but to get my bedroom cool the downstairs is almost arctic. I have multiple sensors so in the afternoon I switch to the one in my bedroom so it gets cool. My bedroom window faces East so it gets the morning sun, I hate to deprive the kitties of their sun time so I leave the blinds open. I know spoiled kitties. I honestly hate closing the blinds and drapes, I look out the window and watch the birds. I have large trees around me so there is always something going on.
My wrist is really aching today, I really do need to lower my desk. But I will need help to do it.
I'm struggling with trying to figure out how to retire. Between my Social Security & pension I barely have enough to cover my house payment. I know it's my fault for buying a house, but at the time I didn't realize the payment would be so high. My insurance and taxes have increased so the escrow account cost goes up each year. I also invested money in improvements a new furnace and A/C, I had to extend the duct work upstairs as the only heat was ceiling heat. I also replaced the 4 windows that needed replacing. It's much quieter and stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. At this point I'm not willing to invest any more money in this house. I don't think it will be my forever home, as the stairs and broken bones attest to.
I just keep trying to figure out how to actually retire. I know that I'm not alone in this, but at the moment it seems like an insurmountable problem.
Sorry for the negativity.
Have a great day everyone!
