i was so in a hurry to get out of the hospital that i didn't remember what my Dr. said about my staples and showers.  i've been "sink bathing".....  can i shower with these staples in my stomach.  I had RNY 3 days ago.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Look for your discharge instructions.  They would have been given to your escort home.  If you can't find them, call your doctor.  No one here is qualified to answer your question...good luck!!

Every surgeon is different. With that being said my dr allowed me to shower on day 3.

Like others have said, everyone is different. Mine let me shower three days after. NO scrubbing or rubbing on the staples area. She told me to just le****er or soapy water run on it. Carefully pay dry. Good luck!

I was allowed to shower but had to wait two weeks for a bath.

Sink bath eh? We called it a bird bath and the cruder friends called it a *****s bath.

I had a shower the morning after surgery.  The PSW was with me to assist.  It felt heavenly.

Absolutely yes you can (been nurse for 20 years). Just don't 'scrub' over them or directly apply soap or shower gel to them (just in case it might irritate them). Showers are fine but baths are a 'no' because its not a good idea to submerge them.

Just ignore them really and then 'pat' dry your tummy area after.

Enjoy!
