When I started this journey approx a decade ago..I had NO idea I?d end up with two adorable little kidz , beautiful homes , financial security and sweet younger boyfriends.
You Do learn .... the lessons aren?t always easy but it seems like you can catch up .
Unfortunately now it seems like a serious health issue caught up with me which makes it very difficult to go out to sea especially since we?re traveling to different countries . Well life is a risk ....
food today - anything I can get down from pork n beans to orange juice . It IS really scary to leave the land of Chinese , Mexican , Greek and Thai takeout and just go .... being unable to eat .
But milk and baby formula ( which is basically Ensure ) are foods too ... bananas, mangoes , papaya , conch salad in the Bahamas , ceviche everywhere else .... these things I can eat .
I may be just turning Vegan or what they call pescatarian ( someone who eats fish ) .. I notice I?m much more interested in tofu than meat .
And funny ... I never understood ladies lying around a pool in lounge chairs .. now I'm that lady in the big hat sexy bikini and sunscreen! And happy to do it .... is this AGING?
Ok you have me totally confused. Are you traveling with the two little kids?
Ensure is no where near baby formula two totally different things. I hope you are not giving the young one Ensure she should have baby formula.

I?m a coleslaw expert... because I too adore it . Buy a bag of freshly shredded cabbage ( 1.39 ? ) a bottle of fat free hidden valley ranch and a bottle of the coleslaw dressing.
If you can?t find that just buy an envelope of dry coleslaw dressing. One envelope is enough for six bags of salad because you?re mainly using the fat free ranch dressing.
mix a little of the dry stuff with water and get it to your taste ... you might want to add salt and pepper. A lot of times I just use the Hidden Valley fat free ranch dressing alone and it works great ....
what I at least can?t tolerate post op are fatty mayonnaise based dressings . This is a great tasting workaround. Actually tastes a LOT better than what you can buy expensively in the deli.
And obviously it?s a lot less calories and much more healthful.

Here's the thing .... no one is going to support you so get over it .
This is YOUR decision no one else's .
For a few scary weeks feeling alone will be hard but in the long run you're much better off saying that you're taking the weight off through diet and exercise ( which is true by the way ) .
And when it permanently stays off ... let the skeptical bystanders be amazed :)
We have one guy who never told his wife

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
WHO CARES?! You do you, Boo! I haven't told anyone. Not a single person. Only my husband knows.

It's crazy how i had more support from people at work then my own family. I hinted around to family members about "maybe" having surgery( i had already gotten my surgery date). NEGATIVITY right off the bat. My parents are the only ones who know in my family about my surgery. Mom was hesitant at first but got on board and my dad said he has known for awhile that i was probably going to go this route because he knows how much i have struggled with my weight. He is a man of little words so it surprised the heck out of me that he became my biggest supporter.
I just had my surgery on the 7th and most of my family thinks my mom and i went on vacation. I haven't decided if i am ever going to tell anyone in my immediate family yet.
I told my mother after i had been approved by my insurance to have the surgery. I told her what i was doing, why i was doing it, and that nothing she could say was going to change my mind. Im 36, it's my time and my money. I did ask her to be my caregiver for after the surgery and she agreed too. But i knew she was not fully on board. She has an old school mentality about what she feels is an "unnecessary" surgery. I told her i was tired of struggling with weight. I have been overweight since i was a child. I lost weight plenty of times but gained it back plus some. Enough was enough.
i also ended up asking a friends to be my backup caregiver if my mom changed her mind. So lean on some friends or a close relative to help you if you can.

This is EXACTLY why I told no one in my family ( or friends) about my decision to have WLS .
if I Could have it would have been nice to have support... but guess what ... if you're even two hundred lbs and your family is not unconditionally behind your getting help .... they're messed up .... not you ... THEM.
yep it's hard doing it yourself but a LOT harder having to argue with a bunch of ignorant and uncaring idiots. (((()))) hugs
