Topic: HOLD MY FEET TO THE FIRE! ACCOUNTABILITY TIME
ACCOUNTABILITY MISSION: NO MERCY AND NO EXCUSES
Even if I'm not feeling it. Even when I do not believe it. I keep telling myself the positive outcome is going to happen for me. This helps get me through the day.
TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH AND BE ACCOUNTABLE:
Do you manage your ups and downs? Do you speak kindly to yourself when you are feeling only the negative? Do you talk the positive talk even when you are not believing it in the moment?
Lately I have been faking it and not feeling it. When I start telling myself about all the "wrongs" how do I keep myself from believing that I am "the wrong" and will never make it "me right"? Each time the negative self talk sets in I counter it with repeated positive self talk. This is a must.
We believe what we hear repeatedly. Even known and obvious lies become truth as they are publicized and again and again in print, pictures, and sound bites.
One day at a time; or one hour; or one minute; or a non stop battle with each random thought. Sometimes we don't really believe in possibilities or in ourselves. This is when we must LIVE AS THOUGH WE BELIEVE IT. This is one of the few times lying to oneself can be positive.
Visualize what you want and how you want to live. Make this vision part of your daily life, real or imagined. Create the reality you want and focus on living it. Do this where weight loss and good health are concerned. Do this in all areas of your life.
SUCCESS COMES FROM FOCUS ON THE DESIRED OUTCOME. Those who succeed over a lifetime are focused on using each and every available resource to achieve their desired outcome. This drives their thougt process. When they see a tool or an obstacle, it appears to them as either a risk or an oportunity and it is treated accordingly.
MINUTE BY MINUTE NOTICE THE RISKS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO YOUR HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD AND A LIFETIME AT A HEALTHY WEIGHT. Adjust your focus and use these to your advantage. You will for see what you need as you remain focused on your desired outcome.
...All are welcome, jump in at anytime.

Topic: OH ATL CONF: GREAT PEOPLE! GREAT FUN!
Yes folks, I was Blessed and unexpectedly able to attend the OH conf in ATL this weekend. Even when it looked like it was to be snatched away at the last minute, I kept the faith and thought like it was mine. I had an amazing time with my roomie MsMartitaLinda!
I arrived in a funk. Feeling all this weight gain and loathing the increaseing belly fat. My failure to follow my wl surgeons new plan was weighing me down. My apathy over getting back to shakes was shaming me. I left the conference with my spirits lifted and feeling like I can do this again. It is amazing the influence a good friend with a positive yet realistic outlook can have. Thank you MsMartita.
Got to meet MsNieceb in person too. She's awesome but I lost her in the shuffle and only wish I had time to get to know her better.
I also met a number of other brothers and sisters. Not posters to BAF, but perhaps lurkers. I don't know any of your screen names but I enjoyed meeting each of you. Hoping you'll come on out and post to BAF soon and often.
Then there are several oh folks I've met at past conferences. Seeing them again is always a treat. Most are not posters or lurkers on BAF; but friends are friends no matter what boards we meet on. It was OH in Rye, NY, 2009 where I first met MsMarta and we've been irl friends ever since.
MsMarta's pics are fantastic as always. You should know my hair is courtesy of her stylista skills.
Hoping to meet more of you ar future oh conferences!

Topic: Does any one have a personal trainer
I had my first 3 personal training sessions. I thought I'd better get help after gaining 50 lbs from my lowest weight. I have been pretty sedentary. I am so embarrassed with my inability to move this big behind!!!!! It is wide and flabby. I feel so embarrassed trying to do stretches and jiggling as I do arm circles. My trainer has a great personality, but my confidence level has literally gone done the commode after re-gaining weight. I feel like God gave me a 2nd chance at a healthy life and I did not respect it. Anyone else feel this way sometimes?
Where is the crew from 2004-2009?????? BAF was all the way live back in the day! Rofl.....

Yes we lose slower, not as much, and get less exercise. But our bones stay healthier.
Topic: RE: MY FAT, MY FAT, MY FAT IS ON FIRE
He was on the panel and I told him that I had the EDG with Scelerotherapy twice and my weight was at a stand still. I ask was there something that he could suggest that I could possibly discuss with my surgeon on the 9th. He commented," unfortunate there will be people that is just destined to be large (fat) and that maybe I am the size I am meant to be. He said that one factor for most people when losing weight could be if they have been fat all of there life and this would allow them to only lose so much weight and that is it. The members got so angry with him and was coming up to me making comments about him even his patients. I don't receive that because the evidence that I am holding onto is, there was once a time I wore a size 13 and that is my goal and if I did it once I can do it again. I am still in the race of life. I am going to see my surgeon in the morning and I pray that he has some kind of solution. I will post about my visit. Thanks for responding.

I honestly don't know if you can go from a 22 to a 13 by February, you sure in hell can try but i'm the last person to say that cause it takes me 20 years to lose 3 pounds.
You should have just gone to the library and gotten the boo****il yours came in the mail, that's what I did. It will be there soon enough and then you can start. I am starting a new round tomorrow morning I finished my first round and now it's time to do it all over again.
I have been trying to mess up because i'm sick so I had chicken soup and some candy because you know you must eat chicken soup and candy when you are sick. But I am back on track in the morning and going to drink a lot of water to flush all the salt from the water out of my body.
What the hell did the doctor at the OH conference say to you? What a jerk ahead of time i'm calling him a jerk. LOL

Thanks for always posting and being honest you are one of my hope shots. You think that I can get in a size 13 by February on the EFS is I follow it to the T, now in 22's but looking good. I love your humor.
Topic: RE: A BLAST IN ATLANTA!!!
We were talking about how you and MSW have such beautiful spirits and outer beauty. Seeing the both of you gives me hope. We was talking about what Dr. Mascik said to me about maybe 253 lbs. is where I am going to be and how it mad so many of the people upset and how they supported me and encouraged me not to accept what he said. After seeing you and MSW, I have a renewed hope that I can lose more and get more healthier. I also learned that being apart of a support system is very important and thank you ladies for allowing me to participate in this group.
Topic: African Americans and Weight Loss Surgery
What a awesome time in Atlanta. It was trully inspiring! I am 8 months post-op and have lost about 90 lbs. I expected to see so many more of my sisters and brothers. This bothered me throughout the conference. I kept thinking do we know we can save our lives?? Where are we. Everyday we hear our ethnic group is more prone to heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, you name it we get it. We have options and I feel as if we are afraid to use them.
I ran my first 5K September 14, 2012. It was how I rewarded my self for working out and staying strong in my journey. I was the only AA woman out of 187 people. I saw mom's and dad's running with their sons and daughters. What an eye opener that a young man 74 years of age finished 10minutes before me. He ran 3.2 miles in 31 minutes. This inspired me because consistency produces longevity. He's still running.
Anyway I ran across this article... It answred the questions that i left with from the conference. WLS impacts us differently than others as well. Other ethnic groups lose more weight than we do typically after any type of WLS (according to the article). As I looked around the room in Atlanta; this article gave validity to my thoughts.
During Zumba I was one of 4 AA women that attended the class. We are the majority when it comes to obesity....we need to be the majority when it comes to educating ourselves and taking the leap from Weigh Up to Weigh Down.
