Topic: RE: Fiber: What's your favorite fiber supplement ... and Why??

I use 2 tablespoons of the powder in my shake every morning. In theory, it keeps my stool firm?  Then I use miralax which keeps my bowels moving.

That's the theory at least...

Ha ha Gwen, I have those moments just for waking up in the moment (oh my old momma brain)

Do not skip your fiber, not fun (trust me).

Okay, so Benefiber... Do you just the tablets or powder, with what liquid?

I went to the store to grab a fiber supplement and got overwhelmed. I've read all about it online, but just looking for testimonies from others on their favorites.

Topic: Pre-Op Prep

Well, I'm about a week out from starting my "pre-op" period where I go all liquid.  I'm looking on tips on how to handle this, what works best for satisfying and helping with cravings, etc.  Also, any tips on how my body is likely to respond to the liquid period.  I'm a trial attorney and I have trials scheduled for that period, so I'm trying to prepare myself as well as possible.

I read this and had a big "what the heck" moment.  I've been using Benefiber in my shakes since day 1.  Why?  I have no clue.

Maybe I should skip it for a week and see what happens.

You are less than a week out, your body is trying to adjust to all the changes. Don't give up, it will get better! Are you getting in all of your fluids? How about protein, how many grams are you able to take in? Are you still on a liquid diet or are you starting to add in puréed foods?

Hi Laura!

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery!! Although I had issues, I will never regret having WLS I always tell people the only thing I regret was waiting so long to have it!

A whole new world is about to open up for you ?

As far as being a veteran, I can share some amazing information with you. I would have saved myself a lot of misery had I known quite a few things earlier on. If you would like to shoot me an email, I would be happy to share with you [email protected]

I look forward to hearing from you!

Best,

Michelle

Topic: Tumeric supplements

I've been having extreme shoulder pain since July. I have swelling in my shoulder that could be relieved by taking Ibuprofen but because I've had RNY, that's a big "No No!" I did get a PRP injection last week but unlike Cortisone, it can take up to a month to start working. I chose PRP because it has healing properties and can, in the long run help the inflammation. My physical therapist suggested I take tumeric supplements. I of course asked my surgeon but he said he didn't know much about it as it relates to RNY patients. He did say that if my pouch started to hurt for me to stop taking it. So I'm here asking my OH family for your advise, does anyone take tumeric for inflammation?
