Topic: Looking for suggestions.

I'm looking for healthy suggestions for on the go breakfast and lunch. I am a visiting nurse so unfortunately I eat on the run. Mostly in my car during the drive to my next patient. I have a nice cooler but I don't have access to microwave. I have to admit I have never ate healthy. My go to used to be McDonald's and pizza. I have tried having eggs before leaving home but they tend to sit in the back of my throat. At least it seams that way. Any suggestions of protein forward foods to go?

Topic: Are you in the "soft food" phase? Interested in becoming MyFitnessPal friends?

Hi all,

I just started the "soft foods" phase and have started using MyFitnessPal again to track my protein intake. I'd love to have other folks on "soft food" phase as friends on MyFitnessPal. My hope is that we can help each other, inspire each other, and support each other during this transitional phrase.

If you're interested in becoming friends, please go to http://www.myfitnesspal.com/user/search and search for my handle (Tish6918).

Thanks!

Tish

PS. I'm also going to post this message in the RNY section.

Since surgery some leftovers give me issues after 3-4 days. I just freeze them now, portioned, and I haven't had trouble since I started doing that.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Topic: RE: Greek yogurt?

It doesn't have to be Greek although I just had plain greek yogurt with a few berries thrown in and it was delicious!

Go with what you like and fits your plan. Yogurt doesn't have a boatload of protein in it and I consider it a slider food so I don't rely on it too much in general. But, when I do, I think about how it fits into my protein/carbs/calories for the day because I watch all three to varying degrees.

You will just need to find one you like (no need to eat stuff you don't like!) that works into YOUR daily plan.

Topic: Greek yogurt?

I see quite a few people posting their meals for the day and they seem to include a lot of Greek Yogurt. I tried it and I hate it! Does it have to be GREEK or will a regular yogurt do as long as it is non-fat and low carbs?

Hello everyone,

I am 14 years post RNY. I've managed to keep most of my weight off. I initially weighed 267 and now I'm currently 150 and went down as low as 126. It's a struggle everyday, but in my plight to stay healthy and eat right I wanted to know if anyone is juicing and if so, are there any recipes and/or books you could recommend.

On that stage i think liquid calories is the best option for you if you like

Hi Melody.  It is tough to try and lose weight when you have to cook for someone else.  Would your boyfriend be willing to fend for himself for a little bit?  I am extremely lucky because my NUT told me I didn't need to lose any weight before surgery but I am setting a goal for myself to lose ten pounds.  What works for some might not work for others, but what seems to be working for me is to cut out all "white" foods, i.e., bread, sugar, flour, rice, potatoes and so on.  I realize this is a typical low carb lifestyle diet but it is easier than weighing and measuring all my food.  I have never been good at counting calories and really have to much to think about now to begin to start doing it.  It also helps to cook all your own meals so that you can control sugar and salt content.  I typically try to do most of my protein cooking on the weekend so that all I have to do during the week is add some veggies and have a meal on the table within 15 minutes.  Boneless, skinless chicken breasts and thighs can be baked in large quantities and then used in countless recipes that even your boyfriend could eat.  The same is true for lean ground beef or turkey.  Check out recipes on the internet for inspiration.  One day on the weekend (or even a couple of hours) could really make a difference for you.  I sincerely wish you luck.
