A gift certificate for a massage. Unless she hates being touched. Or can be embarrassed to undress to get a massage.

Any gift certificate IMO. Amazon has so many different things that a post op can get including protein powders, vitamins, clothes, etc.

I used a second hand stores to get majority of my clothes. But personal items I had to buy brand new and replace a few times.

I echo the idea of a Ninja Blender depending how much you want to spend. I use mine every day!!

I would also say that my instant pot and food scale are both things I've come to depend on since having surgery. If you know what flavors she enjoys, then maybe even some Torani sugar-free syrups which you can order on Amazon.

My final suggestion would be manicure or pedicure gift certificate so that she can "escape" all of the thoughts of food when she is very restricted on what she can eat.

Happy shopping

Thank you Kathy.

Sort of nervous moving onto the next phase of this journey - maintaining; but so far feel so positive - I just need to keep tracking my food intake and upping my calories until I find what works for me.

Thank you for your response.

I did my one year follow up and Dietician seemed surprised I was only eating 850 calories, which surprised me that she was surprised; kind of weird - as that was what I was told to eat around and to get 80 grams of protein in; she would not specify how much more I should be eating but when I pressed for a range she said 1200-1400 and up protein to 90 if possible - so sounds like what you are eating; basically the take away was to stop losing anymore weight and work on maintaining now;

I just need to adjust my mind set to start eating more; I've been accepted into a 6 week tele health over the phone therapy to stay on track, so hope that will help me get my head around eating more (but not going over); I will just continue to log everyday my food intake - that should keep me on track.

Congrats on your continued maintaining of your weight loss - amazing!

They will most likely want you to increase your calories and change up your macros a bit.

I'll be 2 years out January 16th and maintaining a 155 lb loss on between 1,200 to 1,400 calories per day.

You just continue eating the way you have been instructed and add some calories back.

Congratulations on your success.

Topic: RE: anyone know current wait at TWH?

Not sure about TWH but I know in Hamilton they have added 2 more surgeons so they now have 5 surgeons doing the surgeries so the wait times have come down some. Most people I see there are getting through in 7 months to a year.

Unfortunately, they don't have the support staff for AFTER the surgeries. Lots of issues on that end but quicker to get those surgery dates.

A gift certificate to a clothing store, cookbooks for people who have had Gastric Bypass. I was thrilled when I got the gift certificate for clothes. I spent a fortune in the first year replacing every stitch of clothing and shoes for 4 seasons. It was extremely costly.

I found cookbooks on Amazon that were a godsend in the early days after surgery. I made a number of the recipes and continue to make them today.

Depending on how much you want to spend, a blender has been a real godsend for me as I make a lot of my own protein drinks and low carb smoothies. I also use my blender for cauliflower mash. (a new staple)

Crock pot, meal prep containers, a bento box meal organizer. You can get all of this stuff on Amazon to make it easier or Canadian Tire. The Ninja blenders are pretty good and reasonable.

Hope this helps.

Topic: Christmas Suggestions Please

Hi Everyone! So I have someone very special in my life who is booked for Gastric Bypass. I would love some suggestions that I could give her for Christmas that would be related to this and help her in the journey.

Thanks !!
