how long?
You should talk to your surgeon and see what he reccomends. Some have different guidelines for band patients.
My doctor reccomended 12-18 months just because pregnancy is counterproductive to weight loss. The reasons for waiting are different for band patients than they are for other types of surgery. There are no malabsorption issues with food or vitamins so the question is how close you are to goal weight, etc.
Obviously, the healthier your weight, the healthier your pregnancy. Also, once you've dropped a bunch of weight it can be easier to conceive.
Good luck.

Lap Band September 2007 / Slip discovered March 2014 after significant regain / Revised to VSG April 29, 2014
I had my lap band in Feb of last year and got pregnant in September. The doctor had said to wait 1 year but things happen. I was already down 120 lbs by then though, so that was nice, but I'm still overweight quite a bit, so ideally it would have been better if I would have waited. But I've had no problems so far.
