Horrible Gas Pain

I'm 9w1d...I'm also 19 months post RNY...and last night I was having the worst pains right behind my sternum...radiating thru to my back between my shoulder blades.  I tried Gas-X but that didn't help.

The only thing that seemed to help even a little was my husband beating me on the back trying to break it up.

Do you ladies know what works best for this...that we can use?

Well, this has been an issue off & on my whole pregnancy and you are right it is TERRIBLY painful. Mine is usually caused by constipation (the gas being stuck behind a BM that won't come out). The only thing that helps me is to get the poo out (sorry if that's TMI). If I need immediate relief, I use a Dulcolax suppository. That works well. But I am on stool softeners every day now which seems to help.

That might not be the issue for you, so I am sorry if that's not helpful. But I wanted to say that the other thing I have done is, when I know I am eating something that will make me gassy, I will take Beano with it. I also take a Lactaid chewable tablet whenever I eat anything Dairy because dairy makes me really gassy.

I hope you can find some relief. I truly do know how painful that is. I have posted several times about it during my pregnancy.

Nexium worked wonders for me and I had the same pain you have. It's safe during pregnancy.

Do you still have your gall bladder? I had similar pains to my gallstone pains and your pain sounds exactly like it. If like me, you don't have your gall bladdr anymore, then you might want to ask your doctor about Protonix. That's the only thing giving me any releif right now.

I had my gall bladder removed in 1996.  I'll definately ask about the Protonix!  Thx!

Well, lately I have just been having food stuck in my pouch and that NEVER happened before, now 2x in a week... That felt like a heart attack, I honestly thought I would die... It was the worst pain EVER.  I mention it because the next day I have the gas...

The gas pain can be just as bad. I have to lay in bed and simply switch positions all the time, once it feels like no more can come out, I have to roll... I thought it was just me though, thank you for bring this up :)

Penny, I have been having horrible painful gas pains the past couple months. I am not pregnant. But I had them happen again lastnight and I took Western Family Ultra Strength Anti-Gas and it works wonders. I think it was completely gone with in 15-20 min. I believe this is what I took last time too I had just forgot how quickly it works!
