You could be or not.  If you want to be preggo, I hope you are!  If you are planning to get pregnant, you may want to monitor your period and see if you are actually ovulating.  I think you said you had over 150 lbs to lose still.  You may want to tighten up on your diet and get some exercise to lose some more weight and  have a better chance of conceiving (it may be 40lbs that may make allow you a regular cycle).  Also you need to be careful with psychiatric medications.  Make sure you are using psychotropic drugs that are safe for conception and the development of your baby.

All Best!

First off, congratulations, what an awesome surprise!  Sorry you're feeling so terrible.  I have a friend who just got through a terrible pregnancy suffering from hyperemesis.  She did not have the added issues that could be from the RNY, but she was to the point where she was on chemo level anti nausea meds and she still threw up almost all day, every day.  I know this is not what you want to hear, but at least it helps to understand that the symptoms might not have anything to do with the RNY.  The silver lining is that she was blessed with a super easy labor and delivery and the nausea went away immediately upon giving birth.  She couldn't believe the doctors when they told her she'd have relief from how sick she was, so soon after birth. But, just like they promised, she had the baby and instantly had a ravenous appetite and the nausea was gone.  I hope you find relief before that, but just know that there is light at the end of the tunnel!  Good luck!

The vomiting with sugary foods/being very sensitive to them is quite common. I was very sensitive when I was pregnant. It got some better after each of my 2 babies. As far as the pain when eating, 2things come to mind. First and foremost is--ulcers. Do you have ulcers going on? Have you been checked for them? When I get ulcers, I hurts extremely bad to eat even 1 bite. I can feel it going all the way down. Mess will fix it within 3 days (Carafate/nexium). Another thought I had was gall bladder. Do you still have it? If so, could this be the problem, since it happens with fried foods? Just some ideas.

Topic: Help! I think I'm going crazy!

Hi everyone! This is my first time posting a message here, but I am in desperate need of help and have nowhere to turn.

Here's the short story:

I am 5 years out from rny. I lost 250 pounds and was close to my goal. I struggled with infertility for my entire adult life. I lost my right ovary & tube at 16 years old due to ovarian cancer. Then, between 2009 and 2011, I had 3 surgeries to remove dermoid cysts from my left ovary. I was being closely followed by a gyn oncologist, and by my last surgery, he and I started discussing taking my remaining ovary. He sent me to see a fertility specialist and I was told that I would need costly treatments because I would never have an "oops baby". It would not happen naturally.

My fiance and I spoke with our families and explained that we would not be able to have children. We did not have the tens of thousands of dollars for infertility treatments....... As heartbreaking as it was, we made peace with this and went about our lives.

Cut to April of 2013. There was a miracle, and I became pregnant. I am currently 26 weeks and due on 12/5/13. I still cry and thank god for this miracle baby inside of me. The only problem is that I have been INSANELY sick through the entire pregnancy. I was diagnosed with hyperemesis, and I am on constant Zofran, which does help with the nausea very much. I am having a TON of trouble keeping food down though. I feel the way that I did in the weeks after my gastric bypass in 2009. I am constantly dumping from foods that should not be causing me to dump. Almost everything that I eat gets "stuck" in my chest area, just like it did right after surgery. I am so careful to chew properly, avoid "dry foods", and stay clear of fried or sugary foods. It's getting to the point where I am in pain and throwing up every time I eat. I am seeing a new midwife on Friday because my previous one did not take my concerns seriously and treated me like I was making up my symptoms.

I have searched online to see if this is something that is "normal" in pregnancy after bypass, but everything I am seeing online states that bypass should not affect my pregnancy at all. Has ANYONE else had a similar experience? I am at my wit's end and I don't know how to be able to eat enough and stop being in pain after every bite.

So, I guess this wasn't a very short story after all.... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
