I'm 6 months pregnant (or just about) and eventhough my pregnancy was a TOTAL surprise, I just take my regular multi-vitamin along with Folic Acid and calcium. My labs are all perfect (what a relief!).
I take an over the counter calcium (the amnt recommended after surgery) when I get up in the morning.
i take my over the counter multivitamin and b complex in the afternoon.
before bed I take another calcium and over the counter Folic Acid.
I had tons of regular multivitamins and the obgyn said they are perfectly fine as long as I add Folic.
Good luck on ttc!!!
Thanks!
well, i am excited to say i had my first iui yesterday. i am fully aware that they don't often work on the first try out, but i'm either successful or one try closer to being successful. :) (of course if find out im not pregnant ill probably be heartbroken).
so, my questions are these...my ob-gyn knows both my surgery and working with a fertility specialist as does my wls surgeon. the fertility specialist knows of my sleeve. i feel, though, as though each is expecting someone else to cover the basics with me.
i had blood levels drawn in prep for this and was told my levels were all great. they never gave me prenatals, i never questioned it figuring he knew what he (fertility specialist) was doing. but then yesterday i read a sign on their door about importance of folic acid (which i should be fine with) and then it said that if i was not taking a prenatal to ask the doctor to write a script for one, so i asked about it.
the nurse seemed rather shocked that i was not taking one so she was going to have one called in for me and i started yesterday. sooo, if i should have been taking it before why didn't they tell me? and if i should not be taking it at all (i'm afraid maybe some levels might be too high now??) then why did they call it in?
second, no one has ever talked to me at all about the "dos and don'ts" of being pregnant. thank god for online so that i can do some of my own research. i realize that a lot of people don't know they are pregnant in the first few weeks, but i do know there is at least a possibility and i'd want to do the best that i can from the start. i'm hoping there is nothing i've missed.
finally, i'm reading up on the nutritional needs, and food intake recommended by pregnant women and dying. there is no way i can fit all that in, and i can eat a lot more than most of my fellow sleeve friends. sheesh, just keeping track of all of the requirements is daunting, but that cannot be the same guidelines for us, is it?? and if so, omg, how do you do it?
i tried to search here for similar posts and was unsuccessful which surprised me. i also tried to find sample pregnancy meal plans after wls. wondering what wisdom y'all might be able to share. i will be making some calls here, but hearing it from real people sure helps.
thanks, tas
boy am i glad my doc started me on femara, not chlomid. i can tell you, though, that it EXHAUSTS me as well! no hot flashes, but man, tired!! if i drink coffee (which i normally do not) in the morning it helps a lot, but yeah. at least you might drop the hot flashes. good luck. i just had iui yesterday...crossing my fingers!
no big experience to share yet, but i had my first iui yesterday. they said if i don't get my period by 8/8 to call and get blood test on 8/9.
a few questions for you...are you on prenatal vitamins? they didn't put me on any, but did tell me my levels were great. not big shock since i take all of my supplements regularly. but i asked and they called one in for me. of course now i'm over thinking it and wondering why they didn't have me on them in the first place, so now i'm worried i may be taking in too much of something.
also, did they talk with you about 'what/what not to do?" i'm surprised that no one has, my ob nor my fertility specialist. i realize most people don't know the day they conceive, but i want to do the best i can in case i am pregnant or soon to be. i've been doing a ton of reading recently so not overly concerned, but i have no idea how to coordinate the dietary needs of the baby with our own wls issues...which is what brought me back to the forums too...and yours was the very first post i saw. :)
good luck to you!!

Thanks for the reply! I should add that my son was born at 40 weeks 3 days and he was a 10 hour 3 min labor...not sure how long pushing was...but I know it wasn't a long long time! My water broke at home...so from the time that happened and he was born wasn't a long labor!
My hubby is a state police...they are getting ready for the next cadet class coming in...right now is doing a bunch of backgrounds and then when it starts in Oct. he will be one of the training officers for the next 6 months! If this one hangs on until its due date it will only be a few weeks old when my husband has to leave! My 5 year old only goes to school 2x a week this year for 4K...so that sucks a bit...but we will manage!
Thanks again!

Baby #1 came right at 41 weeks with about 50 hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, and eventually a c-section.
Baby #2 came on his due date with under 12 hours of labor, and about 3 pushes... second ones definitely come faster!
Good luck! My hubby travels for work a lot, it sucks!
I haven't been on this board for months. I was just frustrated with the whole trying to conceive thing and infertility. So I just hung my hat up and moved on until I received a bill in the mail where my insurance didn't pay for one of my visits to my OBGYN. So I called the insurance company and was advised that my insurance only covers infertility treatments with an RE and not an OBGYN. OK. that is news to me I said you guys have covered all of the other appointments and she said that they probably coded it differently and I needed to call them and tell them to recode and then resend it. Then we started talking about my infertility benefits and she asked me if I was still trying or interested. I said no to both questions. Long story short by the time I got off the phone w/ her I had a referral to an RE and an appointment set. That was a couple of months ago. Well today I had my first IUI. I had one follicle that was a 23. My husband's sperm was 13 million after being washed and the motility was 96. The nurse said all of this was great and now we just have to wait to test two weeks from now. Can you please share your experience and has anyone conceived on the first try?
I'm feeling like my body is working super hard right now, I'm getting shaky/dizzy/clammy sometimes, I just wonder if I'm giving myself enough fuel to fuel myself and this growing baby. I'm putting baby first and eating but I can only put so much in there, restriction wise. I drink like a fish all the time when I'm not eating. Morning sickness hasn't set in yet, just some slight nausea here and there so I'm keeping everything down, I can only imagine how I'll feel when it does rear it's ugly head. Any suggestions?

I know that a second time baby tends to come sooner than a first time baby...although not always...just curious how many weeks everyone else was when they delivered their second (plus) baby?? I am almost 36 weeks and starting to get nervous a bit as we have some things going on this month and the coming months! My DH has been super busy with work and is doing some training right on my due date...then starting End of Sept/ beginning of Oct. thru March I will be a single mom of 2...he was asked to be a training officer which will likely lead to a significant promotion! It is 6 months though...so a bit nervous to have my 5 year old son and a newborn!
