He only authorized/ wanted to do 2 cycles and then move to IVF, which I wouldn't have been able to afford.  He suggested only doing two cycles of IUI for two reasons.  He said that the standard practice used to be doing 5 - 6 cycles before suggesting IVF, but that recent research has strongly suggested that after 3 failed IUI's, the rate of success drastically decreases.  The second reason is that since the AMH indicated that I had so few eggs remaining, he didn't want to risk "depleting" what eggs I had left with the lower chance of success of IUI vs. the much higher rate of success with IVF.

I had forgotten to mention that I also had an HCG trigger shot 24 hours prior to insemination.

I just wanted to say that I hope it works out for you! I, too, hope to have a little one here shortly. I am 22 months out from the VSG and decided to get off my depo shot back in april. I just started getting my periods again & have been using ovulation predictor kits to help time everything right. *fingers crossed* I would also love to join the facebook page! my email is brittany_bearpaw@yahoo thanks so much!

My AMH was 0.39 in July.  I did two cycles of 150mg Clomid + IUI and it worked on the second cycle for me.  I don't know if the following helped or if I was just plain lucky, but I read that higher vitamin D values are associated with higher pregnancy rates.  After my first failed IUI, I doubled my Vit D intake.  I also had the serum/ blood level tested and I was normal at 32, but not in what I would consider an optimal high range (I prefer middle to upper range of normal).  The other thing I did is that after the second IUI, I flipped upside down on the bed that was inclined to help the little spermy guys swim up to the ovaries.  I did this for 10 minutes.  Good luck to you.

Topic: RE: What are some of the nutritional modifications with pregnancy?

Baby needs you to consume a MINIMUM of 100g of carbs a day for neural tube development, so if you've been following the high protein/ low carb diet as most of us have, now's the time to stop. Continue to get plenty of protein and water in and add healthy fats if you've been avoiding those as well.

As for vitamin changes, I kept up my bariatric vitamin routine and simply added a prenatal on top of it, though I have the malabsorption factor where you do not, so that may not work for you.

Congrats on your pregnancy and best wishes for a happy, healthy 9 months!

Topic: RE: Pregnant after PCOS = gestational hypertension / pregnancy induced high blood pressure?

My blood pressure has always been in the perfect range, if not a little on the low side. Although my pregnancy was pre-WLS, I had PCOS and I also had hypertension. At a routine appointment, my BP was 160/95 and my urine protein levels were high (I think that's what it was anyways lol). I ended up being induced at 38.5 weeks and after failure to progress from pitocin, ended up having a cesarean.
