Absolutely great advice - thank you. My surgeon is working closely with me and just restructured my supplements with a change to injected B12 where I was on a nasal spray application once per week. So I'm pretty confident atm - the only level that is low which is always low for me is my iron. I've already actually tripled that dose but am starting to experience constipation so I will need to back down to double. TMI - I know. But it is what it is. Thanks again for responding.

Topic: Long overdue update

I really haven't posted anything in a long time, so I thought I'd check in.

For those who don't know me, I had my sleeve done a little over 3 years ago, and I'm 25 weeks along with my second post op baby.  I was nervous a bit in the beginning of this pregnancy because I had two early miscarriages last winter, but so far this has been a totally uneventful pregnancy, in fact it has been my easiest yet.  I'm feeling great!  Definitely started showing immediately with this one, but I think that is pretty much just par for the course with a 3rd baby.  We're not finding out what we're having, but at our ultrasound everything looked good.  All the right number of limbs, good size, etc.  My only concern with this pregnancy has been that I've gained weight faster than with either of the other two.   However, I was also at my lowest weight when I got pregnant with this one, so I'm hoping that is partially the culprit.  With the first two I lost the weight right away and I really don't want to get stuck with a bunch to lose!  I could definitely buckle down with my eating, but that really been happening at this point.  As of right now I've gained close to 20 lbs, so I'm hoping it will level off soon like it did with the other two.  Anyway, things are going great, and I'm just getting used to the idea that this is really happening and that I'm going to have 3 soon!

Hope everyone is doing well!

I had sleeve, not bypass, so I can't relate to all the inner workings, but I'd say talk to your surgeon.  They might want to do some tests, or at least be able to shed some light on the problem.  Seems like it might be more likely a WLS issue than a pregnancy one.

Calcium with D. B12 iron and a prenatal is what I take.  I was over with my vitamin A with my bariatric vitimins so u have to be careful. No more than what is in a prenatal.

Topic: Pregnant after bypass HELP DESPERATE

Ladies, I am a year and a half past rny. I am now 13 weeks pregnant.  I had had some issues but for the first three months no morning sickness. I was so excited. Now over the last few weeks after I eat and no matter what I eat I get super nauseated. It goes away after an hour or two but then as soon as I eat again I get sick as a dog.  Anti nausea mess don't work.  My OB is not sure if it is morning sick ess that just started or is it from my surgery.   Desperately seeking help

Make sure that you have a highly absorable form of folic acid/ B4.  I managed to find a B complex liquid form that has 800mcg of folic acid for $16 for a one-month supply at the local vitamin/ health food store.  Focus on nutrient-dense foods and good vitamin supplementation.  The baby will take whatever it needs from your reserves, so you have to makes sure that you are replenishing your reserves.  That's probably more important than losing weight initially, especially given that the first trimester is the time in which the major structures of the body are forming, high nutrients is essential.
