I would have passed on the stinky shark too!

QOTD- My breakfast is pretty much boring, Greek yogurt and raspberries when they are reasonable.

It's supposed to be 93 today, I will try to keep the house cool. I hate closing the blinds and drapes but with a 2 story house it's the only way I can keep my bedroom cool. The A/C works great but to get my bedroom cool the downstairs is almost arctic. I have multiple sensors so in the afternoon I switch to the one in my bedroom so it gets cool. My bedroom window faces East so it gets the morning sun, I hate to deprive the kitties of their sun time so I leave the blinds open. I know spoiled kitties. I honestly hate closing the blinds and drapes, I look out the window and watch the birds. I have large trees around me so there is always something going on.

My wrist is really aching today, I really do need to lower my desk. But I will need help to do it.

I'm struggling with trying to figure out how to retire. Between my Social Security & pension I barely have enough to cover my house payment. I know it's my fault for buying a house, but at the time I didn't realize the payment would be so high. My insurance and taxes have increased so the escrow account cost goes up each year. I also invested money in improvements a new furnace and A/C, I had to extend the duct work upstairs as the only heat was ceiling heat. I also replaced the 4 windows that needed replacing. It's much quieter and stays warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. At this point I'm not willing to invest any more money in this house. I don't think it will be my forever home, as the stairs and broken bones attest to.

I just keep trying to figure out how to actually retire. I know that I'm not alone in this, but at the moment it seems like an insurmountable problem.

Sorry for the negativity.

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning, everybody!

Apparently, the Greenland Shark has no kidneys. Consequently, when it filters its blood, it does so by sweating the Ammonia and Urea out through its skin. Basically, it sweats what we pee. Because of this , the Greenland shark meat had been considered inedible by humans for many years.

Greenland and Iceland can be harsh places to live, so you can imagine that if a 1,000 pound shark washed up on a settler's beach, that they would try and find ways to process that free protein. Various hanging and pounding techniques were tried but nothing seemed to work. One farmer gave up and decided to bury the stinky shark down by the beach, to at least get rid of the smell. To his surprise, 6 months later, his dogs dug it up and brought it home to eat. With some experimentation, the farmer learned that 6 months of burial followed by some farmhouse hanging led to a semi-edible shark product. Emphasize semi.

To this day, the Icelanders eat this rotten, fermented shark, along with a shot of flavored liquor. They claim that it is great for warding off colds. But let's be clear, it smells like a litter box. Anthony Bourdain described it as the worst thing that he ever ate.

On one of our excursions, they passed out the liquor and fermented shark. I took and overly aggressive sniff and decided, absolutely not. My older son said:

"C'mon Dad, it keeps you from getting colds."

and I said:

"I never get sick, I don't need to eat the smelly shark."

Uh-oh. Pride goeth before the fall.

Two days later I woke up with a sore throat. I'm now on day 12. The worst of chest congestion is over. My eyes are no longer crusted together in the mornings. But I still get tired easily, and there is a least some Coughin' O' The Green every day. Now Marilyn and my youngest have it.

I can't say that I am pining for the fermented shark , though.

QOTD: nothing comes to mind, but your looks great. And of course Emeipie Egg Salad.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Roast Beef

Dinner: Pasta

Have a great day, all!

Good Tuesday Morning Gang. Today is the start of another heatwave here in the great Northeast. I'm in the scale house nice and comfortable with the A/C. We have a mid-year water wash on boiler 1 today just a routine maintenance thing it shouldn't even take 24 hours and the boiler will be back on-line. When I got out to the scale house I noticed the outbound scale guardrail was leaning in apparently overnight when we got a lime delivery the driver hit it and pulled it out of the cement.

Had another great night at the Y. Irvin was set and ready to go when I got home from work. I did a hike through the Costa Rican rainforest while he did weight machines and the stair stepper. We then hit the lap pool and finished off in the hot tub. I forgot how many muscles one uses while swimming, but I was able to do a total of 24 laps.

QOTD: Do you ever "invent" a food? I've started making what I call a breakfast salad bowl on the weekends. It consists of butterleaf lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, cottage cheese, soft boiled egg and homemade sausage. Very tasty and filling.

B: coffee and 2 soft boiled eggs

L: salad with 2 chicken salad stuffed peppers

D: grilled chicken burgers

30 minutes on the treadmill and then swimming

Have a great day!!!

My breakfast bowl and my two Hydrangeas. The pink one is finally blooming.

Good Afternoon! Happy New Week. We had a nice weekend with not too much excitement but for some reason I still wasn't ready for the new week. I am not a fan of the heat and it's been over 100 degrees so just lots of indoor time to stay cool.

QOTD: No, and I am sure it would benefit me immensely.

I took a rest day from exercise and my menu is typical for the work week and dinner for the first part of the week is BBQ pork loin and some sort of veggie. Water and vits on track for the day.

I hope everyone had a great day.

Good morning all and Happy Monday,

Weekend was good. I enjoyed life. Yesterday, we went to a BBQ at Paula's Parents' house. It was enjoyable but strange since I'm dating Paula and have established personal relationships with attendees and now I'm dating my friend's sister, his parents' daughter, and other friends that have known Paula from birth. It's a weird dynamic.

QOTD- YES. I will stop the day if I next to rest, meditate, or take 15min to lay down.

B: Yogurt, half bagel, half cup coffee.

L: BBQ with Mom and sister.

D: salad with yesterday's chicken.

HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 208 lbs 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

"I wonder if pizza thinks about me, too."
