I worked with with a lady who only drank juice. She said once that her beet juice tasted like dirt. When my husband was on chemo he could not eat most food but could drink juice.

I had a juicer and made him juice everyday. I used beets, carrots, apples, lots of fruit and vegetables.

I love root vegetables and try to eat them often. I do want beets pickled but buy them already pickled. I am always looking for recipes and ideas like honey on roast carrots. Sometimes I go to restaurants where they accompany a meal with parsnips or turnips and prepare them do well.

Good mornin y'all!

I had to cancel my PT appointment today. I'm feeling not so great. I feel really bad about it but it is what it is now. I'll just do the exercises here later today.

We have the thrift store we frequent coming to pick up our old TV stand, recliner and a doll house. It'll be so nice to get it out of here BUT we, meaning me, will have to put together the new one that's been sitting in the garage. Not particularly looking forward to that lol. I had a rough night of very little sleep. It's been raining all night off and on. It's humid enough to take a bite out of the air. We are not used to humidity!

Jim, hope you got your meds figured out!

have a good one y'all!

QOTD:I like everything but beets. I hate them. A lot lol. I love everything else pretty much.

B: breakfast burrito and coffee...oh and two small molasses cookies ugh.

L: thinking an egg with a slice of cheese and maybe a piece of toast?

D: no clue at this point.

Happy Tuesday Gang. I'm in the scale house again, but I kind of don't mind. The A/C is blaring and I got to call out a resident who felt they could just dump whatever they wanted including a huge mattress that we do not take. Public humiliation can be a good thing especially since it really ****** the other residents off that some of them don't follow the rules. I picked some Summer squash last night and planted some eggplant and peppers they are a little bit of a later crop.

Irvin wanted to try beet juice so I picked up some beets. We have a juicer that was gifted to us years ago and have only used it a few times. I peeled the beets added turmeric root, ginger, lemon, and black pepper. It almost tasted like V8 juice I really liked it, Irvin said it was OK a little earthy.

QOTD: Who here likes root vegetables? I really enjoy them in the Winter roasted. Though I make a nice chicken soup with turnip, parsnip, and carrots. I also like pickled beets but haven't made them in a long time. I'm thinking of growing some in the early Fall.

B: coffee and 1/2 cup cottage cheese with raspberries

L: salad with sliced ham/cheese

D: grilled shrimp with kale and red onion salad

30 minutes on the treadmill

Have a great day everyone!!!

Hi, looks like everybody here had a good weekend. The pictures were so cute! Sorry about that awful heat, it was the opposite here and I actually turned on the fireplace Sat. and Sun. evenings. In June! That's just wrong. But the cool weather made it easier to do stints in the garden and I cleaned up quite a bit, even managed to get 3 cucamelons planted. After harvesting more mullein I'll get the big squashes planted. Very behind on the garden this year, crossing fingers!

QOTD- Never did either of those when I was a kid and when our kids were the age for it I was too fat to join in so, no. However, the grandkids are almost the right age for it so I'll either join in with them or jus****ch. We have Silverwood theme park nearby and I'll suffer through the chlorine rash and the pool water ick factor next summer to join them on some of the water amusements. Too fat this year!

B-always my beloved icy cold protein shake

L-going to steal your cottage cheese and raspberry idea along with a sprinkle of sf raspberry jello for fun

D-turkey taco meat in some fashion. Made a small soup with it last night. Might do that again today.

Get to see the ear, nose, throat doctor again tomorrow and will try one more time to convince him to fix my broken nose. We're going into the 70's/80's so hopefully the garden takes off like a rocket.

Enjoy your Monday!

I used to do all that stuff but now I jus****ch and cheer them on. My best memories are.the high school football games in the fall on Friday nights.

I belonged to the pep club and worked on signs and bsnners. I went to those games for years until my husband was too sick to go. I used to love the water park that had great slides, racing cars and mini golf for a fun day. I loved Sea World until I saw Black Fish a movie aut.how cruel it was to take baby whales from their mothers to train them for sea world.
