So why can't protein drinks taste better?
Day 5 of my pre op liquid diet and and I have to say they are leaving a lot to be desired. I bought a variety of drinks to try, so much for the isopure high protein drinks, NOT. So, 5 days and so far the Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast with organic soy milk, unsweetened and chicken broth are it. I went into the Vitamin Shoppe to see if they had samples, there was very little in fact they were samples to purchase. My question, I am pretty sure these limitations are going to get boring and I wanted to get opinions on muscle milk or possibly getting ideas on what else to try. The weight loss has been fabulous and my liver will be small for surgery day, just want to get some ideas on where to go and who to get samples. I could be a spokesman for Carnation, have been drinking it for years.
Thank You
I'd been reading about the different shakes out there, too, and someone had mentioned VitaLady...so I looked up her link. She sells a ton of different flavor samples. http://www.vitalady.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?search=action&keywords=protsamp&SortKey=sku&SortOrder=ascending&template=Templates/ProteinSampleQuickorder.html
This is another site that has samples...http://www.si03.com/reg_index.htm
I start my 2 week diet next Tuesday. Thankfully, I only have to drink 2 drinks a day and a sensible meal for dinner. I've got my Carnation Instant Breakfast already...but I do want to find some more, too. I know that Costco has the Premiere Protein drinks in Chocolate and Vanilla. I want to ask them what their return policy is on those because they come in an 18 pack and if I don't like them...I don't want to have to suck up a $23 shake. LOL!
I tried the Costco PP shakes and can't do the pre made shakes, also tried the ones from trader joes. I am hoping that my taste will change after surgery. The diet has been ok, lots of water in between shakes and decaf tea in the evening instead of something sweet! Thank you so much for the advise I will keep you posted!
Try chike and unjury. They are good, lower carb, and you can get sample packets on line

I swear by the Premier Protein pre-made chocolate drinks from Sam's Club. (I think Cosco has them as well.) I drink one a day, and then i am able to meet my protein goals with the food I eat.
