Nauseous everyday, all day. Help!
I am 1 month post-op. Most days I can get in around 55-64 oz of fluids and 75-80 g of protein. I have to set a timer for every 4 minutes to remind myself to sip. I also add unflavored protein into everything I eat. Average calories are under 650, and 20 or less carbs.
I've Lost 12 pounds on liquid diet and 21 since surgery. I eat 3 times a day, around 2 ounces total each meal, any more than that causes pain. And yes I weigh it on a digital scale.
However, I am nauseous from the time I wake up in bed until I go to bed at night. I have to take one or more Zofran everyday. Is this normal? And when will it go away?
This does not sound normal to me. What does your surgeon say?

Are you taking anything for reflux? That is a common cause of nausea, regardless of WLS. I would definitely call the surgeon and get an appointment. You need to be seen, not treated over the phone.
I am nauseous all the time too. I called my dr. He ordered a same day upper GI, which turned out to be perfect. My dr gave me Zofran to help with it. I'm getting frustrated because it's everyday. I tend to drink a lot but I'm having trouble getting my protein in. Nothing sounds good to eat and it's hard to make myself eat. Sorry I couldn't help.

Being dehydrated makes you feel like crap, nauseous too. I think if I were you I would try for 100oz of water. I know that sounds impossible, but I'll bet it makes a difference. Believe it or not, getting the water in is more important now than the protein. And we really won't die if we don't get protein. Dehydration is a silent pain in the butt--it causes lots of different side effects. And remember, if you have to go in to get IV fluids, it's going to be tougher to find a vein.
It won't be long before this is all behind you. You won't have to remember to sip. You'll be happy when you can actually take a gulp or two. This won't last that long, but I cannot stress the importance of water enough.
Dehydration is the source of allot of nausea...try upping your water to 100 oz per day. Or at least try to get in more fluids than protein. I think it is amazing that you are consuming 80 g of protein at 1 month most people are not getting in that much until 3-6 months. 75-80g of protein is good I just think you should be getting more liquid than protein to balance it out
Good Luck
