How to take meds after surgery??
I take them orally.
Whole, not opened or crushed. Plenty of water to push them right through. Open, crushed, or too little water means they sit in your sleeve and can be irritating. They are absorbed in the intestine. Get them in there right away.

I had no issues swallowing pills normally post-op. You might need to do them one at a time instead of a handful at once.

I swallowed all my pills like normal about 12 hours after my RNY.

For some reason, the nurse I had in the hospital mentioned crushing pills to me. But when I got home, I questioned this. Called the surgeon's office and was told that it isn't necessary to crush or cut pill.s Just take them! It just gets tricky when you need to have food on your stomach for the pill. I took a giant Mucinex pill last week, but waited the 30 minutes after eating when I could drink again, but this worked fine because the food was still enough so I wasn't nauseous.
