Good Morning. Carb monster has me around the throat

Need. To. Break. Free.   cool   The whole family is having a time of it.  In my efforts to help us eat better, I've brought too many carbs back into the menus. DH says it's got to stop.  So, when DH says it, it must be so.  So, today and tomorrow I'll be reworking my grocery list to match a lower carb family plan.  Ugh....here we go.  I guess we all need to restart from time to time.

Got any "restart" plans or advice on how to do this?

I just go back to meat and veggies.  No potatoes, no bread, no rice or pasta, crackers, chips, the list goes on.  The hard part for me is that DH insist on having chocolate in the house.  I really have to battle it for a day then I am over it or I am in it for a little piece after each meal.  Not having it in the house is my key.  I can deal with plain bread but if I buy really good bread, I know I will eat it.  Sat and Sun when I make muffins or pancakes, at least I put in really good stuff and usually protein too and I don't do it any time other than the weekend.  The problem is that those things, carby things, are easy.  Not like cooking a piece of meat or veggie.  Just grab some crackers.  So I just can't have them as an option.  Also, I try to over cook so I have leftovers for lunch and snacks.  Then I am less tempted to grab something I shouldn't be eating.

Tis the season.  They are everywhere.  Cookies, candy and treats abound.  Even though I don't have them at home (at least the kinds I shouldn't eat) they are going to be there.  I just make up my mind that they aren't for me.  It helps me knowing how bad I would feel and how sick I would get if I had some.  Maybe not a little but I am incapable of having just a little when it comes to those things so it is easier to not have any.  If it's a party or potluck I bring things that I know are okay for me so I don't feel deprived.

The fear of consequences never helped me before when I was eating them all the time but it helps when I haven't felt that way for a while and don't want to feel that way again.  If I am going to have a treat I want to have something that won't make me feel bad physically or mentally afterwards.  That way it really is a treat.

Cream cheese pancakes are the solution.  You can cook up a large batch and then just eat them cold.  I don't think I'll sick of them as it takes a while to cook them (the batter's really quick and easy).  The recipe's below for anyone that hasn't seen it:

I really need to make some this weekend!! :-S

Oh and they easily last a week in the fridge and they freeze fine.

the ******* got me last week..DGS n DGD spending the weekend. after nearly a year of avoiding all their food,I just caved. put me into a total binge and haven't had one of those in 2 years.

So,it prob wasn't as bad as i think it is as I mentally went over what I ate.

Took me a couple of days to get it under control again, exactly 3.

Back on the plan and scale coming back down. I am planning mentally and provision wise for upcoming holidays at said DGC's house. I WILL not have any of their stuff,I WILL have my own and I WILL NOT have a binge of any kind!.

GL to the rest of you we CAN do this!

Since I've been running, I have added more carbs.  Think maybe too many.  Trying to cut back a little, especially on the high glycemic fruits and the flour products//wheat or not.

I can relate to you Gina.  I had a horrible day yesterday at work.  Today I went shopping with DD and just did not have anything around to eat.  I started to get a cookie at the cookie store at the mall, but did not have enough cash and refused to use my credit card to buy a cookie!!

If I do protein first and very little veggies, I can usually get back on track, but I pretty much have to stay away from all of it except what little is in my milk for coffee and things like that.

I had a horrible baking frenzy last week.  I think it was hormone induced but I can't be doing this every month!
