Well I went for my pysche eval today, it was so easy .I was only there for 30 min.  I was listening to some of the people on here regarding the eval, only to find that I had nothing to worry about.  My Dr. will have the results to my doc this week.

     Hi all, guess what I lost 7 lbs in one week since starting South Beach. its amazing I don't feel hungry. I think it's a good diet.

     Hi all, went to my consult and I met with the nurse,dietician and then the Dr. I was there for 3 hours. I was told to start the South Beach diet as this is the diet i will be using after surgery.The Dr said that I was a excellent candidate for the surgery and that she wanted to see  how much weight I could loose in 8 weeks. which would also give me the time to get my labs and psyche eval done.I found out that if you are a smoker, this doctor will not do your surgery.Too many risks. I am so happy.hopefully all will go well and I will have surgery this time.

     Hello all. Well it's been so long since my last post, and to be honest, I was so depressed after it. Well I finally have a little good news to  post, I finally got a referral to Dr. Posner for WLS. Since my last post  ,I found that I also have sleep apnea and am on a cpap machine. I filled out the papers for my visit with dr. Posner and mailed them back to him for review, now is the waiting. I am hoping that this happens this time as I have been so bummed everytime I hit a roadblock. It got so bad that my spouse told me that  obviously my doctor does not feel that I need to have this surgery (my pcp). Well he was the one who gave me the referral (or should I say his nurse did). All I had to do was call and leave a message saying that I wanted a referral, and there it was.  Trying not to get my hopes up too much, but at least this time I see some light at the end of the tunnel.  See you later.

     I was suppose to go to the doctors office on the 10th, but they called me and told me that they would have to reschedule my appointment.  This visit is with my pcp.  Now I will have to wait til Dec. 31 in order to find out if my doctor will back me in this surgery.  The waiting is driving me insane.  But it may be for the best as well, God could be working his miracle in her head and giving her an open mind.  So I guess I wont complain.  I will post again soon.

     Sorry I havent been here in a while, but boy do I have some great news.  I went to see my PCP on the 20 of Feb. , and I was asking her about WLS and she told me that she was 100 percent for it.  Boy was I glad to hear that one, I was so sure that she would tell me no and that it was too risky.  She then told me that she would be more than happy to send me to the weight loss clinic, and I was ok with that.  Then I got a call from her nurse a few days later telling me that they were looking for a surgeon for me and as soon as they found one who accepted my insurance they would call me back and let me know.  Needless to say I got the call  and the letter 2 days later.  I have my surgical consult set for June 7, too bad it cant be sooner.  This was the only appt. that Dr. Custer had open.  I got all the forms I need to fill out in the mail from his office today.  I am so happy that things are moving so fast.  Hopefully the insurance will move as fast....lol.I will write again soon.

     Well my surgery consult is on the 7 of June and im finding it so hard to wait for it.  I am just hoping that I can get a date really soon.  I will post again soon.  See you later.

     Hi all, well I had my consult with Dr C. today.  I think it went well.  He gave me a lot of info.  He told me that I was a good candidate for the lap procedure.  I even lost 10 pounds since my last doctors visit.  He told me all that I will need is to have a sleep apnea test.  Now the bad news, I found out this week that I will be moving to Buffalo.  So that means I will have to  wait to have the surgery.  If anyone knows a good surgeon in the Buffalo area, please email me the info.  I need to find a surgeon fast.post soon.m

   Hi all. Sorry I haven't updated in a while, but due to issues beyond my control, I have been a bit busy.  For starters, I have moved and with the move means another insurance company, and a new set of doctors.  I am now in Buffalo New York.  I am feeling as if this surgery will never happen.  To have waited 3 months to get in to see a surgeon, only to have it yanked away, makes me feel so hopeless.  Now I have to start all over again with a new pcp, finding a surgeon who will take this insurance and then waiting to get in to see this one.  Feels so hopeless.  If anyone can tell me a good pcp and a possible surgeon it would be very helpful to me and I would appreciate it very much.  I won't depress you anymore with this, I will update again as soon as I have some good news.        Monica

     Well hello all.  im so sorry that I havent posted in a while, but I was so upset after my last posting that I couldn't bear to post for a while.  Well I do have some good news, Our new health insurance FINALLY came through. We have Independent Health.  Now the not so good news, I need to find a pcp in the Amherst area so that I can make an appointment so that I can get a referal to a surgeon.  If anyone knows a pcp who is open to wls please contact me and give me their name.  I am trying to do this as soon as possible.  and can anyone tell me what types of tests that Independent Health requires?  I am trying to speed up this process as much as possible.  Hopefully when I get more good news, I will post again.......

     Well hello all.  I am asking anyone in the WNY area if they can help me find a PCP.  I am in desperate need of finding one who is open minded to this surgery.  I am hoping to make an appointment with them as soon as possible.  I will be very grateful to anyone who can help me in this matter.      Well hello all.  I am just giving a update to my page.  Well thanks to a  wonderful lady , I have a new pcp.  THANKS KIM.  I have an appointment on Dec. 4,2002 at 9 am.  hopefully all will go well and I will be on my way again.  I was just wondering if anyone got the chance to see the dateline show about Al Roker and how he had had the wls.  It was a wonderful episode, I found myself in tears as I listened to him and realized that I was listening to my own story.  If anyone is interested in reading about this please feel free to email me and I will forward it to you.Bye for now....

     Hello all.  I thought it would be nice for others who read my profile to see just why I am interested in having gastric bypass surgey, so here goes.....
1. To be able to fit into a tub.
2. To be able to fit in a tub and not have to call for help to get out.
3. To be able to walk up a flight of stairs without having to stop halfway through.
4. To be able to do outdoors things with my kids.
5. To be able to bend over and tie my shoes without getting dizzy.
6. To be able to have sex and not have to tell my partner to stop because I have a cramp in my thigh.  LOL
7. To be a more active participant in my sex life.
8. To be able to paint my toenails.
9. To be able to walk into a restaurant, and not have all eyes on me.
10. To be able to see that there is a space between my legs.LOL
11. To be able to walk into a regular clothing store and buy clothes off the rack, not the moo moos, im taliking about the really pretty things that they dont make for us big ladies.
12. To be able to cross my legs when I sit down.  And I dont mean at the ankles.
13. To be able to sit in a chair and NOT have it squeak.
14. To be able to go to my 20 high school reunion and showw everyone that im not just the Big Girl in the class.

     Hello all....Well I was due to go and see my new pcp on the 4 but had to cancel the appointment because I was in training this week( I started a new job). so I have a new appointment on the 11 to see another doctor at the same facility.  I am hoping that this doctor will be WLS friendly.  But considering I have already started this process before, at least I know what to go in saying to him to persuade his decision.  So after I meet with this doctor I will post again......Monica

     Hello all....sorry I havent posted in a while, but I havent really had much good news to post.I went to see my pcp, and was told by her that she was for the surgery, but she doesnt know me well enough to let me go into doing something like this.  So she wants me to go to a nutritionist and then she will decide on it later.  Needless to say that is the last time i will be seeing her...lol.  I have had enough drawbacks as far as this surgery is concerned, so i'm not willing to waste any more time on high and mighty doctors.  I have an appointment to see another doctor on March 17, so I will see how it goes from there.  Although I did find out that im a diabetic and anemic.  but this is the kicker, she wont treat me for the diabetes until she gets my med. recs. from Ohio, now isn't that a kick in the a@#.But as soon as I find out whats going to happen I will post again. bye for now...M

 Hi there folks...Well as usual no real news to report. I guess it was not meant for me to have this surgery, I have hit so many road blocks trying to do this that I just give up. now im losing weight and its making it where i'm not even 100 lbs over weight. I  know I should be happy, but i'm just waiting for it to come back and then i'm stuck with it. I have been at this rollercoaster ride since Nov.2001, and I don't think its gonna happen no matter how much I try. I now have a thyroid problem and now i'm just waiting to see this specialist to see what load of crap he tells me. my dr wants me to see a nutritionist well the insurance doesn't cover a nutritionist, and I dont have 300.00 laying around to see one. so there goes that idea. I may as well just give this up, i'm so tired of being kicked by someone or something everytime I get close.well at this rate my illnesses will take me out so why try anymore. Sorry to be such a downer, i'm just tired. See you later..M
