When LIFE gets in the way

So I am coming up on my 9 month surgiversary and (unofficially) I've lost 70+ pounds. Yay! But that doesn't mean there haven't been bumps along the way and that it wasn't hard. I still have the rest of my life to go! And that's the part I have to keep reminding myself. This tool will be with me for the rest of my life - I have the choice to use it or lose it. My goal weight is 130 pounds and I'm 25 pounds from that. The farther out from surgery I get the hard it gets to lose. But I have to admit I have to take blame for some of that because I let LIFE get the best of me. I haven't been able to really commit to the gym like I really want to because being a new home owner has its own demands. And when you're busy - you also dont make the best meal decisions. We almost have our home projects complete so I'm hoping I can finish up my 1 year surgiversary with a bang! Last night I bought my first ever size 9 Jr jeans as an adult. Crazy. They were a little tight but the 11's were too lose....so time to get it in gear and get those pants loose like the 11s!


The journey continues

Well things aren't progressing the way I had hoped with the weight side of things but I am trying to not mentally screw myself...here's the reason why... I weighed this morning at work and I was 161.8. I have been hovering around the 160-165 mark for the past two months. I recently started weight training and following a running training app. I usually put on muscle weight pretty quickly (which if you are watching your weight can be a problem). So the saturday before Easter sunday I went looking for a new Easter dress and I found 1 ...it was a size Medium! YAY! I also tried on some jeans size Juriors 11... I couldn't get them above my hips. Bummer. So after that point I started my weight training more seriously and completed my first week of running training. I was feeling good about my progress since my size 13 jeans were feeling loose. So I told my husband I wanted to go by JCP to try on the jeans again... I grabbed them and anxiously tried them on. THEY FIT! I did a little dance and they zipped right up! Not even that tight anymore! Needless to say my husband MADE me buy them and also put away the scales. I just started a group walking challenge at work today too so hopeful I will see more results even if the scales dont move. 

I am officially HALF THE WOMAN I USED TO BE (physically) :)

I was hoping to be at 130 by my year anniversary... while I may not meet that goal weight I am proud of myself thus far. 4 months until my 1 year Surgiversary!


6 Months PO Update

Having the revision from Lapband to Bypass was the best decision of my life. The band was a torture device from hell. 

So the past two months my weight loss has slowed mainly because of injuries, sickness and activities that I signed up for that kept me from the gym and from eating homemade foods. But Thankfully those activities come to an end next Tuesday! This morning I weighed in at 168 on my home scales. I go to my 6 month check up March 5. My 1 year goal is to reach 130 pounds by August 25. So 38 pounds to go and 6 months to get it done in!

Back in the 60's ... 160's that is!

The headline says it all. I finally got back in the 160's this past saturday morning. I weighed like 3 times just to make sure lol

I haven't been to the gym in 3 weeks due to sickness, being just lazy and then throwing out my back while visiting family. But I jumped- slowly- back in last night.

I'll be tickled pink when I have 3 dedicated week days I can go to the gym and then trying to get in gym times on friday, saturday and sunday .... this will happen after we finish up the with the Dave Ramsey's FPU class.. Loving it and learning so much....but it is putting a damper on my exercising and weight loss potential! 

I am 9 pounds away from being my smallest weight as an adult and 39 pounds away from goal! Feb 25 I will be just 6 months out! I BELIEVE I will hit goal before my 1 year PO anniversary. Wish me luck!


The Body is a crazy thing

So for the past two weeks I haven't been able to get to the gym -besides one day. And I feel in that time my body has shrank a lot. Just a couple weeks ago I was just fitting into size 15 Jr Jeans... Just for kicks yesterday I tried on 13's and I was able to fit in them without issue! I guess my body needed a couple weeks off to shrink lol

I'm two weeks and 2 days away from being 6 months post op. My goal was to be at 160 but it doesn't look like I am going to be able to reach that goal in this quarter. I'll be happy if I make it to the 160's.... which since I weighed in at 170.6 this morning....I am pretty sure I can make it :) 

I know the further out you get the more you slow down in weight loss so I'll put my 9 month mark at 145 pounds. I should be back in the gym and a lot more active with the winter weather being gone. Come on Summer!


The Numbers Mind Game

So since the beginning of the year I've been crazy busy...hosting parties, taking a Dave Ramsey's class...you name it I've probably been doing it. I haven't been able to keep a regular and consistent workout routine either, which really gets on my nerves. I haven't lost much since my 3 month check up but everyone says that I am shrinking! And I can tell because I've also had to pull out my old jeans from before I was married. They are a Juniors size 15. I bought a new belt and I am already wearing it at the 3rd hole now. I'm trying to get through this time of inconsistency until this class is over, then watch out! 



I RAN! and I don't mean the country!

Monday night during my workout at the gym i did my normal weights then jumped on the elliptical for 15 minutes then moved over to the treadmill for another 15 minute workout. Last week I ran twice for 2 minutes each and I didn't seem to have a problem with it but I didn't want to overdo it either (Asthma and bad knee). So I decided I would try running again I would just take it one minute at a time and when I felt I needed to stop I would but I had to break my two minute mark. So i turned up my tunes and started running... I hit 3 minutes pretty quickly and easily so I pushed for 4. I was in shock I didn't even feel winded yet. So I kept pushing on. 8 minutes had passed. WHAT?!??!!? Am I seriously running that long now? My husband comes over and sees that I am running so I continue running until I get to the end of my workout. I ran over 10 minutes! I was beside myself to say the least! I just kept saying...I can't believe I just did that! I was in shock. So now that I know I can run 10 minutes my next challenge is to run 12 and go from there. :)


First Weight Stall of 2015

Well I made it into the 170's and I have been on a weight loss stall since then. I did begin working out with weights again so I'm sure that has something to do with it. I've also upped my protein intake to 110 so that upped my calorie intake by 100 calories too. I'm just gonna continue with my workout routine of weights, 10 minute abs and 30 minutes cardio. 

I may not reach my next goal of 160 by six months (Feb 25) but it will happen! This is battle will be a life long one not a couple of months or a year.... consistency is key....slow and steady wins the race! 


New Year, New Life

I was so happy when New Years eve morning I stepped on the scales and I was in the 170's! I haven't been lifting weights and working out in the gym in a couple of weeks but the weight is steadily coming off around 2 pounds a week. I am just now starting to see the results for myself. I still have a hard time taking compliments from people and I try to just brush it off....but they aren't letting me get away with it lol. I try to take everything a day at a time. I'm fitting back into my old Jr. sized clothes again which makes me happy. I went through my closet and pulled out all of my old big clothes and put my smaller - almost brand new- clothes back on the rack for wearing. I have a ton of clothes now...but I'm working to have to buy new ones ;) 

2015 is going to be my year. I have been blessed beyond measure and I know God has so much more in store for me. My next goal is to reach 160 by the end of February (the 25th would be my 6 month anniversary). 

I haven't really set my year anniversary goal weight because I know with weight lifting muscle will weigh more...so I'm gonna see where I am at at the end of February and set my next 3 month goal from there. For my 13 month anniversary my husband and I are going to swim with the Great White sharks! 3rd time for me and first for him... I can't think of a better way to celebrate my new life!

3 Month Dr check up

All went well with the checkup! They are happy with my weight loss so far and told me to keep up whatever I've been doing.

Weight today was 188. So I lost 20 pounds since my 6 week checkup. 40 total since I began seeing this doctor. It may not be high impressive numbers but since I had a lower starting weight, had been eating healthy for the two years prior and have a horrible thyroid - trust me- for me these numbers are amazing!

I've been battling a cold for 1.5 weeks or so that's kept me from the gym like normal... Oh and I may have a stress fracture in the top of my left foot... But it's not gonna keep me down.

Next goal for me is to be at 160 by my next doctors apt sometime after Feb 25. I've been losing roughly 2 pounds a week so I should be able to pull that off!
