I decided to go and join weight Watchers again to try and get my 10% off with some support help. I weighed in at 259 which is the same I weighed in at the orientation class a week ago.  My knee has been feeling better, today I also went to the podiatrist to get a shot for my plantar fasciitis. now I can walk better.

Today I went to my first support group.  There were about 10 post ops there and about 29 pre ops.  It was really interesting to see the post ops, how they did it, where they are at now.  There was one lady there that was 3 weeks out and she seemed to be doing pretty good.  I am nervous about this but I really have to do something for myself.  Right now I'm waiting for the bariatric program to contact me for my first consult.  the dr. at the orientation said 4-6 weeks.  I've joined a few online support groups and they really help alot.  You get alot of information and support from them.  Really answers alot of questions. Tuesday I am going to podiatrist because my plantar fasciitis in my right heel has made the past month unbearable, i'm walking on my tippy toes because I can't step down.

I must say though that my right knee is doing pretty good since I had my last injection therapy shot.  I am praying this will last.  the ortho said it should last about a year. i can't imagine a year of pain free knee!!

Today I went to the Bariatric Orientation at kaiser fremont.  It was about 2 hours long and it was very informative.  I've read alot about the surgery and I read the paperwork they sent so most of what the Dr. said I knew already but it was good to hear from the doctor.  I think the hardest part was the dietician portion of the class, it was really alot to sink in about what we can eat and what we will never be able to eat again, EVER!!

We have to join a GBS support group so I am going to contact the one in Fremont to see if I can come this Friday, they meet twice a month.

Unbelievable, it's only been 10 days and I got my Bariatric Program approval. it's only been 10 days since my PCP submitted the referral.  Not only that but I am put into the program at Step 6 - straight to Orientation! I guess it's because I have a lengthy medical record and I've undergone almost every test I would have taken from Step 1 - Step 5.  It's still really quick though.  Anyway my orientation is set for Oct. 24. 5 days away.  I am nervous and excited!  I asked my daughter to come with me, just so she can hear what they have to say about the surgery and the support needed.  I have to keep a food log for 3 days and a medical questionnaire and turn it in the day of the orientation.

Today I saw my PCP and she said she would do the referral to the Bariatric doctor.  She told me it would take maybe 2-3 months for them to contact me.  Kind of disappointing but at least it's a start.  She gave me some new heartburn meds (Prilosec) because I keep having pains in my chest and she says its heartburn.

About 3 weeks ago my son let me know that his girlfriend was pregnant.  Wow I'm gonna be a grandma! April 2008 is the expected arrival of Travis or Abby!  This finally put the seal on my decision to have the GBS.  Before this I thought about it alot and even started the process a few years ago but I chickened out.  In Sept. of this year I went to Las Vegas with my girlfriend, I had fun but I know I could of had more fun if I didn't feel so physically tired and hurt so much.  I have bad knees, arthritis, plantar fasciitis, back and heck arthritis and I am not a happy camper.  I like walking, I like being active but physically I can't so I'd rather just stay home.

So I decided that on the 9th when I go see my PCP I am going to ask her for a referral to GBS.
