Sorry, I kind of dropped off the planet for a bit. Everything is going well and I've been so busy living that I haven't had time to write. Lots of things have happened. The weight speaks for itself.

As for my diabetes, I'm no longer even checking my blood sugars. The doctor said at my visit last Friday "I'm writing you a perscription to stop checking your blood sugars." We'll just check my A1C in about a month at my 3 month checkup.

My family is getting excited about weight loss. My wife and daughter are both dieting and exercising. My wife is very excited about racquetball and we're playing as often as possible. This is kicking my exercise numbers way up .

Several NSVs. I went and bought clothes at a regular clothing store (J.C. Penny's and Sears not a big & tall store) for the first time in a long time. I'm down to a 46" waist from a 58" and my shirt size is down to a 2XL from a 4XL. I had a hard time finding a fitted dress shirt when I went to a Big & Tall. The smallest they had was an 18" neck and I'm down to a 16". I sat in a booth at a restaruant and I fit without having my stomach hang over the table and I fit comfortably in the chair at the theater (I saw Wicked; I loved it!).

I'm still swimming and cycling/walkig on alternate days during the week. On the weekends I usually walk with friends or play racquetball with the wife. I'm having a bit of a hard time fitting in the weight lifting but I'm still trying to get that in 3 times a week.

Played racquetball for the first time in around 20 years. I played with my wife and son. It was a lot of fun. My wife and I had a "grudge match" 1 on 1 to 15 points. I won! (by a whole point 15-14 ).

I made it to under 300 (barely, but I'm there ). As I mentioned before, I haven't been this weight in over 15 years! My fasting blood sugar was 106. My BP was 124/67. Everything is great!

I've got big plans for the day. I'm taking the grandkids to a pumpkin farm, a movie, shopping and out to dinner. It should be a wonderful day off the island.

I hope everyone else's day is good as well.

Addendum: My son and I were talking and it occurs to me he's never ever seen me at this weight. This is the thinnest he has ever known me to be and he's almost 21 years old. It's both scary and great.

This morning was great. Blood sugars are still good, fasting was 120. I swam like a shark today (sorry Brenda sharks are better than sea turtles ). Feeling great!

This morning was mixed. I was delighted to learn I'd lost 1.1 Lbs. I only have 1.8 Lbs to go to a big breakthrough. I haven't been under 300 Lbs in over 15 years. I can't wait. My fasting blood sugar was 107. It's now been long enough that I consider my type II diabetes in remission.

On the other hand, my workout this morning was brutal. I'm not sure what was wrong. I started my usual stationary cycle run and my muscles were burning after only about 3 minutes. I decided to switch. I made the 20 min. on the treadmill but my sciatica was hurting something fierce. I then went back to the cycle and had to drop the resistance down to 10 (my last was 14) which meant I was only doing 7 METs (I did 10.5 easy last time). I had to take a break at 10 min and then 15 min in order to make it through. I'm not sure what was wrong. Oh well, tomorrow is swimming. Yea!

I Lost another 2 Lbs. I wasn't expecting it so It's a l pleasant surprise. I can't wait for the next 4 Lbs. I  really want to break 300. I think that's where this all will feel real to me. My fasting sugar was 125 and it was 114 after exercise, so things are looking good. I'm gonna go swiming this morning.

Yesterday was a fantasic day. I did a full loop around Mountian Lake (4.0 Mi in 1.5 hr) with some friends. Then I went and did some weight lifiting. I did eat something I shouldn't have. I had an Egg Benedict (1) but I'm not feeling too bad about it. It was the first one in about 2-3 months and as one of my firends pointed out the walk canceled it out (walk 624 cal; Benedict 500-600 cal). I'm feeling really good.

On the move again (losing weight again). Feels great. Swam like a sea turtle yesterday (thanks Brenda for the anaology ). Got 8 hours sleep with an AHI (apnea) of 0.68. My fasting blood sugar was 114. Everything is looking good.

Still 309. I'm not going to stress it.

Ran (truly ran today; not a jog/walk) for the first time in several years. It was only for a few minutes durring my treadmill workout but it's really encouraging. I wasn't sure with my back if I could at this weight. Who knows maybe I'll try more as long as there's no pain.

Another encouraging thing. For the second time in a few days my fasting blood sugar was 124. A couple of points more for a week or two and I can consider my diabetes in resession. Yippe! Current number is 108 after exercise. Things are good .

Today was a really great day (as was last night). I did some resistance training early on. Then I took a walk with my wife and son at Mountain Lake (not to be confused with Cascade lake in my previous post). It was only 1.8 mi at about 1.8 mph but it was great to be able to spend the time with my family in an outdoor activity again. Last night was great. I went dancing with my wife for the first time in many years. We had a lot of fun. I'm really enjoying my weight loss and the extra energy that it's giving me. Stalled again on weight loss but I'm learning not to stress about it. It will pickup again.
